The Precision Bass debuted in 1951 as the world’s first successful electric bass guitar and took its place in history with an enduring and deeply profound effect on music as we know it today. Taking its headstock from the Telecaster and later lending its shapely form to the Stratocaster, the Precision Bass is undoubtedly one of Leo Fender’s greatest innovations. To honor its 70th anniversary, the Fender Custom Shop has recreated the original in all its beautifully simple glory.

The limited-edition 1951 Precision Bass guitar features a two-piece select ash body and a one-piece tinted quartersawn maple neck with a ’51 "U" profile, 7.25" fingerboard radius and 22 medium vintage frets for perfect feel and comfort just like the original. The hand-wound ’55 P Bass pickup delivers the punch that changed music so forcefully all those years ago. Additional features include single-ply black phenolic pickguard, tinted maple thumb rest, ’51 P Bass bridge with original fiber saddles, vintage tuning machines, bone nut and disk string guide. A deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity are also included.
