Description

The Ernie Ball Power Slinky Electric Guitar Strings are precision-engineered for musicians craving thicker gauges and bolder sounds. Favored by rock and blues legends like Slash, Metallica and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Power Slinkys feature nickel-plated steel wires and tin-plated steel cores for a balanced tone and long-lasting performance. The .011-.048 gauge combination provides the slightly heavier feel and fuller resonance preferred by many rhythm players and lead guitarists alike. These iconic strings can unleash your own powerful rock riffs and soulful blues solos.

Nickel-Plated Steel Wires for Warm, Articulate Tone

The nickel plating on Power Slinky wound strings adds warmth, richness and clarity to your tone. Nickel provides an articulate, musical quality that helps each note sing through. The wound strings' hex-shaped steel cores also enhance sustain and reduce unwanted overtones. Combined with the heavy bottom end of the .011-.048 gauge range, Power Slinkys produce a thick, chunky tone perfect for hard rock and blues.

Specially Tempered Steel Cores for Pitch Stability

Power Slinkys are made from tin-plated, high-carbon steel, specially tempered to hold their pitch. The tin plating prevents corrosion while the steel cores' stiffness translates into a quick, responsive feel with solid intonation. Power Slinkys' combination of nickel-plated wound strings and tempered steel plain strings results in a balanced set that sounds full and muscular, yet still plays with precision.

Legendary Quality and Performance

As pioneers of the rock guitar string, Ernie Ball is dedicated to quality, consistency and musicality. Power Slinkys are precision manufactured in California to Ernie Ball's strictest specifications and highest standards. The result is a set of strings that feels and sounds as good as the hottest rock and blues players demand. Unleash your own powerful riffs and soulful solos with the legendary tone of Ernie Ball Power Slinky strings.

Huge leap in tone over Regular Slinkys and others

I've been playing acoustic for years and recently got an electric about 3 months ago. I've been experimenting with different strings in this order: 1. Regular Slinkys (sounded and felt good but I had nothing to compare them to), 2. Elixir 10-46 (I thought these were terrible. The tone was simply dead. When not plugged in, they literally sounded nothing like the Slinkys and not really like a guitar at all), 3. GHS Boomers 10-46 (produced good tone but felt inconsistent from string to string and also had higher amplitude than slinkys that lead to fret buzz and unwanted need to raise action), 4. D'Addario EXL120 9-42 (I wanted to try both the brand and the lighter gauge. Good tone, feel, and consistency. But the tone was very light compared to the higher gauge. So much so that I wanted to try the Power Slinkys to see if the gauge difference would be as high going to the higher gauge), 5. Back to Regular Slinkys - great feel, tone, consistency, now I could go up to the Power Slinkys and do a direct comparison), 6. Power Slinkys - these are really quite incredible. It sounds like I just traded in my $300 guitar for one that is $1300 (amp too). The difference over the Regular Slinkys and all the rest is truly profound. The tone is so much richer and deeper. I think I found my string. Highest Recommendation.

Love Ernie Ball strings and these are my favorite. I change tuning a lot and these always sound great no matter what tuning I use.

I bought these for my Harley Benton Ex-84 and I was impressed. I'm not much of a shredder though. But after a few bends of the high e string it broke. With the three pack I had I replaced it and it snapped once more probably not for shredders, but will handle your drop tunings

  • I love Ernie Ball strings
