Overview

This Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric guitar is a direct descendent of Epiphone's original line of flattops which go back to the Golden Age of acoustic guitars, the 1930s. This smaller "parlor" or "blues box" style acoustic guitar is favored by blues players of all eras for its compressed, woody tonal quality, short scale, and comfortable weigh. The combination makes it ideal for fingerpicking or the bark of a bottle neck slide. It features a select mahogany body with solid spruce top, rosewood bridge and mahagony neck, again, a mixture of tonewoods that'll fit right in the blues pocket.

Now featuring the Fishman Sonitone soundhole preamp and Fishman Sonicore pickup, the EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric can be plugged-in and heard on any size stage with first class acoustic/electric sound. The pickup is set underneath the saddle. The Sonitone sounhole preamp is an active preamp mounted in the soundhole with easy-to-access mounted rotary controls for Master Volume and Tone adjustment. Now you can make your adjustments during soundcheck and even fine adjustments on-the-fly during your set. No more running back and forth to your amp or the soundboard. The active preamp is powered by a single 9-volt battery. You can connect your Epiphone EL-00 PRO to a PA or amp of your choice with a standard 1/4" instrument cable.

The EL-00 PRO Acoustic/Electric features a solid spruce top with 3-ply black and white binding. The solid spruce top will improve in tone as it ages. The more you play it, the better it will sound. The body features select mahogany with single-ply white binding on the back. The mahogany neck and body combined with the solid spruce top make for the perfect combination of tone, warmth and brilliance with a bigger sound than you would expect from a smaller-sized guitar.

The smaller body (15.5" wide at lower bout) and straight rosewood bridge also influence the EL-00 PRO's distinctive voice which is more focused than a dreadnought and perfect for singers. The rosewood bridge features a compensated imitation bone saddle. The 24.75" scale select mahogany neck has a SlimTaper D profile with a 1.68" nut and is set with a hand-fitted dovetail neck joint using premium Titebond glue. The rosewood fingerboard has a 12" radius, single-ply black binding, 19 medium frets, and pearloid dot inlays. The tortoise shell style pickguard has a vintage metal "E" and this limited edition EL-00 PRO comes with an ebony finish.

This special guitar also features Epiphone's no-nonsense quality including nickel hardware, strap buttons, a 1/4" endpin, Grover 14:1 machine heads with mini-buttons, D'Addario Phosphor (12-53) strings, and carries a Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials or workmanship.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Acoustic Guitar Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Sounds great, fabulous in fact, plugged in: A+ rating

Sounds ok (a little thin) unplugged: C+ rating

Solid top should improve with age, so should just get better and better.

Not as small as I had hoped. Larger than a parlor, but still comfortable to play sitting on the couch. That was my plan so it worked out well. I like it. I'm keeping it.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Acoustic Guitar Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar as a smaller "grab on my lunch hour" guitar for the corner of my office. I chose this model because my grandpa had a 1937 Gibson L-00 in black that I have fond memories of plunking around on. Sadly, it was given to another family member on his passing. This is identical except the binding was a little fancier on the Gibson (obviously) and it had a v-neck where this Epiphone has a standard neck. It is very comfortable and smooth. This is my third Epiphone guitar (along with an EJ-200 and Slash AFD Les Paul Special II). I prefer the shorter scale length and flatter fingerboards of Gibson/Epiphones. I didn't have a chance to play one of these in person so I took a chance ordering one. I was a bit disappointed initially in the tone because it sounded a little thin and clangy but it was unfair because I have been spoiled by the rich, deep tone of my jumbo. After a few more sessions I came to appreciate the unique tonal personality of this smaller body. It sounds great for its size and I am very happy. The action seemed a bit high for my liking but again, after a few days it seems fine. I might see about lowering the saddle during the next string change. I think it came with 12s and I prefer 11s but no big deal. I had heard some people complain about the battery pouch for the preamp dangling in the upper bout but mine was secured well. I haven't and don't plan to ever plug it in so I can't speak of the amplified tone. Otherwise it is a great guitar for those wanting a smaller body. I even got it on sale because the black was $100 cheaper than the sunburst for some reason. Grandpa's was black so that's what I wanted. Even had the same firestripe pickguard. Another gem from Epiphone!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition EL-00 PRO Acoustic Guitar Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a great take on the EL-00 Pro with it's ebony finish and firestripe pickguard. I must have gotten one with a good piece of Spruce on the top because it projects well and has a great bluesy sound. My 4 versus 5 stars is because the velcro holding the battery bag had come loose from the guitar body and so the whole thing was hanging inside the guitar. I reattached it correctly and in a better location, but that was just sloppy workmanship. For the price, you need to allow for certain limitations I guess, the overall finish and construction are very good. This has the "Gibson" 00 size and shape, so although it is a smaller guitar that is very comfortable to play, it is bigger than what you might look for in a parlor. The neck is comfortable and the action is very playable, so all in all, this delivers on being a fun, comfortable guitar to play and has just the sound I wanted.

Using this guitar for Open D work, both slide and finger picking. Fun for Blues!!. Sounds great either unplugged or plugged in. Love the significant neck profile, I am very surprised with the lively response of the solid top.
