The body is carved from solid mahogany with a carved cap and grade-AAA flame maple veneer. Gibson U.S.A. BurstBucker„¢ humbuckers. BurstBuckers„¢ replicate the sound of Gibson's original "Patent Applied For" pickups”the pickups that gave the '59-'60 Les Paul Standards their legendary sound. Made like the originals, with unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, they include variations in pickup output and tone thanks to magical inconsistencies in winding the bobbins, a result of the lack of automatic shutoffs on Gibson's winding machines in the late 1950s.
Seth Lover, who invented the humbucker, always said they wound the bobbins "until they were full." When two coils in a pickup have a different number of turns, that variation puts a little "edge" or "bite" on the classic humbucker sound. The neck pickup is a BurstBucker-1 and is slightly under-wound for a "medium" vintage output. The bridge pickup is a Burstbucker-2 that is wound in the range of a slightly hotter vintage PAF, and which works well in combination with the BB-1 in the neck.

This legendary bridge provides a firm seating for the strings, allowing the player to adjust and fine-tune the intonation and string height in a matter of minutes. Every Tune-O-Matic bridge is combined with a separate "stopbar" tailpiece, which is essentially a modified version of the earlier wraparound bridge that's designed to further enhance the connection between the strings and the body. The Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standard's carries a nickel-plated LockTone stopbar, which provides a firm coupling between the tailpiece and its studs.

I am getting this guitar this weekend for a late hanukkah present and the minute I picked up that guitar at the store a few days ago, when I was browsing guitars, it felt like any 3,000 dollar gibson custom shop. I have had 4 guitars a 1950s fender model strat, a epiphone flying v, a gibson les paul studio and a epiphone les paul standard but none of these guitars I have owned especially the gibson studio do not compare with this epiphone. This guitar is worth its value and I went on epiphone.com and saw the pics of the guitar with the beautiful case and it's cool that it has a certificate!
Short and sweet; the pics do not do this guitar justice. If you want to get a Les Paul and you're debating saving for a Gibson but you really want something now; BUY THIS GUITAR. Everything about it internally is Gibson, this is the real deal just with an Epiphone head stock.
This guitar is fantastic! It sonds great when plugged into an amp. The Gibson pick-ups make all that much more worth while. It's a great buy no matter your level of skill. I highly suggest this guitar to anyone out there.
I got this guitar about a month ago. I upgraded from a Yamaha EG122. This guitar blew me away. every aspect of it. the quality, the sound, the looks, the feel, EVERYTHING. i was debating between this and a Gibson SG. so i brought both of them over to a Vox amp and tried both of them out on exactly the same amp settings. both clean and distortion sounded EXACTLY the same. it was mind blowing how much these guitars sounded the same. so i ended up going with this one for the price and quality. i definitely do not regret it, (I'm sure the SG would have made me just as happy though). Over all this guitar is simply a Gibson with the Epiphone name on the head.
I've had this guitar about a month. Overall, this guitar looks and sounds great. Out of the box, the neck PU was set so low that it actually sat below the mounting ring. I guess "Inspector 18" ended his day early. Where the binding was masked off, there are a few minor over-spray flaws. Nothing offensive and only noticeable if your looking at this guitar very close-up. Amongst my other guitars, I also own an Epi 1960 Tribute Plus. So, I knew what to expect. After all, this is not a $2,500+ hand-finished guitar. Epiphone describes the neck on this guitar as a 1960s SlimTaper, the same description as the Tribute plus. It is NOT the same neck. The shape seems to be somewhere between the Rounded 50's (Gibson LP Traditional) and the SlimTaper shape found on the Tribute Plus. It's very comfortable and I actually prefer it to that of the Tribute Plus. Every guitar sounds different, so it's hard to say it's the PUs. But, I do like the sound of this guitar and the Gibson USA BurstBuckers. The Guitar lacks any "New" features such as coil tapping. Personally, I never found an instance to use such a feature and I prefer it without. I was also leery of the vintage style tuners, but I've had no issues with the guitar staying in tune, and they do add to the look. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who wants a quality instrument and doesn't have $$$$ to waste. I think for most people the cash they save would be better spent on a quality amplifier.
I got this guitar for Christmas and have wanted it for just about the last 5 years or so. It looks much better than it does in the picture. It has the stripes like a standard. This is the best Epiphone Les Paul you can get. The only difference is that the head is shaped with inward dents on the sides, more of a raise on the top. The humbuckers, tuners, knobs, and everything else is all great. The only small problem is that the 3rd string (G) can just barely get out of tune sometimes...most of the time it does not. Overall, it's a great sounding, very great looking guitar, and if you're looking for a great guitar and not just a name get this guitar!
