Description

Epiphone introduces the Les Paul Special Satin E1 electric guitar featuring the classic Les Paul profile with a lightweight poplar body. This Les Paul Special Satin E1 electric Guitar is powered by Epiphone open-coil humbuckers and is available in beautiful "Vintage Worn" color finishes.

For decades, the Les Paul Special has been one of Epiphone’s best-selling electric guitars. And this Les Paul Special Satin E1 electric guitar—inspired by the Les Paul, the greatest electric guitar in rock—continues the tradition of giving both new players and pros a real Les Paul at a price anyone can afford.

Classic Les Paul Profile

The Les Paul Special Satin E1 electric guitar has a poplar body with a sleek look thanks to the Vintage Worn finish and no binding on the neck or body. It's cut to the same classic profile of all Les Pauls and has a comfortable and fast mahogany bolt-on neck with a 1960s SlimTaper D profile. The rosewood fingerboard has traditional Pearloid "Dot" inlays, a 24.75” scale, a 14” radius, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and a standard 1-11/16” nut. Just below the headstock is the famed “bell” shaped truss rod cover found on every Les Paul since the early '50s with “Vintage Edition” in white. 

Epiphone Open-Coil Humbuckers

The Les Paul Special Satin E1 electric guitar features Epiphone’s world-famous open-coil humbuckers with a warm 650R in the neck position and a slightly hotter 700T in the bridge or lead position. Controls include a 3-way pickup selector switch, a Master Volume and a Master Tone control, each with traditional “Black Speed Knobs” pots with long-lasting 500 kohm potentiometers.

All-Metal Hardware

Epiphone features all-metal rock solid hardware on all of its instruments. The Les Paul Special Satin E1 electric guitar comes standard with the legendary Locktone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece for easy set up. Tuning is fast and reliable with Epiphone Premium Covered tuners with a 14:1 ratio.The higher the ratio, the more accurate your tuning. The tuners are mounted on an Epiphone Clipped Ear headstock with Les Paul Model in gold and the Epiphone log in silver. In addition, a "2016" Edition logo is on the back of the headstock.

Solid instrument, good components - setup not bad (though needed some tweaks to get the string height and intonation right). Great value for the money!

It's OK but...

I really needed another guitar like a hole in the head, but for the price, I went for it. This one is number nine and I'm running out of room for them. I expected a gloss finish, since the specs said so, but the flat finish is not a deal breaker. The real issue was the poor quality of the el cheapo tuning heads. I could not fine tune them to save my life and the strings I could tune didn't stay that way. I had Joe, the guitar teach at Guitar Center Detroit (actually in Roseville, MI) upgrade me to Grovers and they are more like what I feel should have been on the guitar in the first place. The screw holes do not line up, but I knew that going in. Besides it's on the back of the headstock and is not all that noticeable. I can live with it There was also some fret buzz, that Joe took care of with a full setup. Not a dream guitar by any means, but I only use it to switch off and on (just for the heck of it) with a Squier Affinity HSS when I'm noodling around in the basement through a Fender Champion 20. For the added cost of the tuners and the labor, I could have had the LP 100, but again no real biggie. It plays decent enough to get me to pick it up more than just once in a while. It'll get some use, but really, not a whole heckuva lot. Between the two of them, I kind of like the Affinity a little better, especially with the reverb maxxed out.. Regarding the bottom line, I'm not so fired up that I would recommend it to anyone but a novice or someone like me, wanting an extra guitar that they don't have to be particularly careful with.

    it's really good overall, especially for the price. if you would like something better, but a little more pricey, i'd recommend Epiphone Les Paul Studio E1 Electric Guitar instead. good for the price though

    Required significant set up at first, then continuous adjustment. Does not stay in tune at all, and dead frets appeared mysteriously - nothing happened to the guitar, it just went totally unplayable. I guess if you want to spend all your time fooling around with the guitar to make it playable instead of actually playing it, you might be fine with this. I'd rather spend more and get a better guitar. It is being returned.

    I've been playing for over 20 years. I've played a lot of different guitars, many more expensive than this one. This has got to be my favorite so far. I've seen in reviews that you have to tune this one every time you pick it up. That is simply not true. The only times I've had to retune this guitar is after my 5 year old tries to help me strum....

    What is the difference between the special VE and the special II? Other than price of course.
