Epiphone's version of the Gibson classic J-200, known as the "King of the Flat Tops", a guitar that has graced stages across the world in the hands of musical legends from Elvis to Emmylou. This modernized EJ-200SCE, features a jumbo maple body with a select spruce top, a stylish mustache bridge, gold hardware, crown inlays on the fingerboard, and a huge sound easily amplified by the an eSonic2 preamp with built-in tuner and NanoFlex/NanoMag pickups. Case sold separately.
A body full of grace
The EJ-200SCE's construction features a solid spruce top with select maple, back and sides and a striking cutaway that provides you better fret access than its predecessor. This 25.5" scale beauty also comes with Epiphone's SlimTaper select maple neck which helps give you a smoother ride up and down the rosewood fingerboard. The rosewood fingerboard has vintage style pearloid crown inlays and a 1.68" nut along with our iconic Sloped Dovewing Epiphone headstock with premium die-cast gold 14:1 tuners.
A fresh spin on classic tone
The tone from the EJ-200SCE's select maple top is enhanced by the classic rosewood "mustache" bridge and synthetic bone saddle. A tortoise-style pickguard with a unique dandelion art pattern helps round-out the EJ-200SCE's iconic look. Thanks to it's combination of tonewoods and construction, the EJ-200SCE provides you with a solid, yet balanced tone which lets rhythm guitarists and singer-songwriters feel like they're being backed up by a band even when they're playing a set pared down. The rich and complex tones the EJ-200SCE will truly inspire musicians everywhere over and over again.
Plug it in, plug it in
Taking the J-200 to whole new levels sonically, the EJ200CE features the Epiphone eSonic2 preamp system which features a built-in, easy-to-use tuner. And when you're playing, you don't have to worry about any accidental popping as the eSonic2 automatically mutes your output. When you push in the tuner button and unplug your guitar, it also keeps it "pop" free. The EJ-200SCE also provides you with tone-shaping options - NanoFlex Tone, NanoMag Tone, Stereo Blend - as well as Master Volume, and a Low Battery indicator and a Phase switch to help eliminate unwanted feedback. The eSonic2 is powered by two 2032 lithium watch batteries which are not only lightweight, but also last significantly longer life than more traditional, heavier 9V batteries.
Revolutionary stereo pickups
The EJ-200SCE features a compensated saddle with Shadow Germany's proprietary NanoFlex, low-impedance pickup. The NanoFlex's unique flexible sensing material has integrated active electronics that picks up string vibration as well as top and body vibrations for a truly acoustic tone without the harshness usually associated with piezos. As a compliment, there is a NanoMag pickup mounted at the harmonic-rich end of the fingerboard. It features three Samarian-Cobalt magnets and an integrated active circuit to capture all the highs and lows, including a wide range of harmonics. The preamp allows you to chose 1/4" mono output blending both pickups or 1/4" stereo output splitting the two pickups, giving you incredible flexibility and opportunities to create the perfect acoustic tone live.
Check the drop-down menu to the right to select Black, Natural or Vintage Sunburst finish.

This is my second review on this guitar. I finally returned it to Guitar Center, and they were very nice about it, and gave me a full refund. So no problem there whatsoever.
Within a couple days of receiving the guitar, I noticed that the pick guard was bubbling up and actually detaching from the face of the guitar.
After having the guitar for around a month I started having feedback problems on the low b notes on the 6th and 5th strings. That was the final factor that made me decide to not purchase another one.
It's too bad, as it is a beautiful instrument, easy to play, with good action. If you get a good one, you will probably love it.
Once again, it's worth mentioning that Guitar Center was very good to deal with. I can't imagine purchasing a guitar from anyone else.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I recently traded in my Martin 12 string for this guitar. After playing about ten other guitars not one of them came close to the sound this guitar produces, not to mention how great it looks. The price is definetly right, and I have to admit the fact that The Beatles used Epiphone guitars played a big part as well. Now I see why they liked them so much.

I recently picked up this guitar on a whim, and have not put it down yet. It has a great sound that I would have expected to pay 6 or 7 hundred dollars for. It sounds as good plugged in as it does unplugged which is rare in some comprably priced guitars.

I got this guitar not too long ago. It was my first REAL big time guitar. I was super excited. I played a few songs on it and the sound was amazing! It's so great. I love it love it love it. Also the tuner built in is very helpful. Even if you can tune it by ear it's always nice to make sure.. Anyways, I definitely recommend this guitar. You won't be able to put it down.

I have been playing guitar for a while now and i just got this for Christmas. and let me tell you, it is a very nice guitar. not only are the looks stunning, but it has a great sound as well. The crown frets, and the gold tuners make this guitar a very sexy look. And the built in tuner is such a helping hand. The only problem i have had is that when i play the Low A or E string, it seems to rattle a lot. I am currently looking to get that fixed and i dont think its that big of a problem. Even though you might not get the praise of it being a gibson or a martin, it is a fantastic guitar!
Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Two things helped me decide on the purchase of my new Epiphone EJ200-CN. One: I already own and am very pleased with an Epiphone Broadway Jazz Box. Two: The reviews of the EJ200-CN on YouTube. One reviewer was negative as the Epiphone didn't exhibit loud volumes when played acoustically. I suspect that is due to the construction not being from thin acoustically superior materials. To me, that just meant that this guitar was made from durable wood constrction that was more heavy duty than some other very expensive brands. Anytime you buy or ask about an Epiphone you will undoubtedly hear the phrase "for the money". I think every buying decision we make has "for the money" involved in it. Very few of us have unlimited funds, and those that do are probably pretty careful about the values of their purchases anyway. I agree that there would be some snob appeal, and pride involved in stepping on stage with a Gibson SJ200, rather than my Epiphone EJ200 CN, but I'm not stepping on near as many stages as I once did. For the money, and for any remotely practical basis for buying choice the Epiphone EJ200-CN wins the contest hands down. The only competitors were some models of the Takamine, which I actually think might be a notch better tone and sounding guitar;but, 99% of the time I am going to have it plugged into either the mono or the stereo outputs, and a lot of my "tone" is going to be taken care of by the amp. This guitar came with a 100% fit and finish score, it sounds big and boomy, not thin and twangy, and it looks like a much more expensive guitar. It has a great neck, and was set up very well for an import out of the box setup. I replaced the strings with Martin .011's and it plays and sounds easier and brighter. No complaints, I would buy another one in a heartbeat if this one were not here. Ron
Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I have had quite a few acoustic electric guitars, lower end Guilds, Taylors, Martins, and several others. I absolutely love the look and the sound of this guitar and find myself playing this one over my others. It has a great sound ( I have Elixirs on it).I plugged in directly to our soundboard and it absolutely sings!! I couldn't have been happier (unless I was playing a $2000 + guitar maybe) with the quality of this instrument. Easy to play and much easier on the pocketbook than the original Gibson.
Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I got this guitar 2 weeks ago, it is the best guitar I own. It sounds good playing any type of music. The electric portion is great too. I have the Sunburst colored guitar. Good Lookin, Good Soundin = a great guitar. If i had to buy a guitar, id buy this one.
Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I have been playing guitar & Bass for over 50yrs. I have owned almost every brand of acoustic & electric instruments that have been made. I love this epiphone guitar. It has great playability & a fantastic acoustic sound. It sounds equally great , with or without amplification. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great classic style jumbo acoustic guitar.
Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I purchased this guitar from Guitar Center's website. It arrived at my door only three days after the order was placed. Out of the box, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the guitar itself. However, once I tuned it using the on-board tuner, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. Then I decided to re-string it using Ernie Ball Slinky acoustic strings. I fell in love on the first strum. The lows are deep and booming, the highs sweet and crisp. I am very impressed with this guitar and would recommend it to anyone. A great deal, especially at the price.
Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
LOOK I BOUGHT 1 OF THESE& IT IS NICE LOOKING BUT DON'T KID UR SELF IT SOUNDS NOTHING NEAR AS GOOD AS A MARTIN OR A TAYLOR. I FOUND THE PICKUP WAS NOT GOOD FOR RECORDING,MY MARTIN IS MORE LOUD & NOT A JUMBO BUT STILL HAS MORE BASS,MID&HIGH. IF UR LOOKIN FOR A PRETTY GUITAR SHE MIGHT BE FOR U,BUT FOR GOOD SOUND QUALITY THE CHEAP MARTINS&TAYLORS STILL SOUND BETTER.
Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I rate this product 5 star because it gives me all the features I look for in a guitar. The cutaway feature, for full scale reach of frets. True tone through full scale. true rich sound both acoustical or electrical. I would recommend this guitar to all levels of users.
Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I've only had my EJ200CE for about a week, but I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I played a couple of different Gibson SJ200's while shopping and was impressed with how closely the EJ200CE compared with the more expensive Gibson. I currently own 2 other guitars (Ibanez EW20ASE and a 30+ year old Alvarez Regent), the action on my new EJ200CE is the best out of all three. And the sound and tone is that of a much more expensive guitar. The only draw back so far is the NanoMag jack has some play in it and will squeak and squall when plugged in to my amp. I'm planning on contacting the service department ASAP to get that fixed and don't anticipate any problems, it should be an easy fix. For the money, you can't go wrong with the EPI EJ-200CE.

I have been playing guitar off and on for about 40 years.I have had several name brand guitars over the years.I recently purchase a 416 Taylor from the guitar center and do like this instrument a lot.I did read most of the reviews on the ej-200 and most all are very positive. Now having played the ej-200 for 3 weeks I have to say it is uch more guitar than I expected.I use medium stings and this thing sounds great. For under the 500 dollar range you can't match it's quality and appearance.Would highly recommend

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I have to be honest, I read many cons regarding this guitar posted on several sites, including the Epiphone site. Things like poor finish, bridge too high, electronics bad, etc. Even things like "was good at first, but went down hill quickly, neck bowed, broken bridge... This guitar has more than met my expectations. Overall a GREAT instrument. Maybe things will go wrong in the future, but that remains to be seen. The other GREAT thing about this guitar, is the folks at Guitar Center in Louisville, KY. Super bunch of guys and musicians. They understand and relate to their customers

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Pick the best in the bunch and test a couple before buying. Feels like a Ginson jumbo for a fraction of the price. Sound and feel fantastic. A little heavier than my Gibson in comparison but let's not judge this beautiful guitar based on that. The action and playability is the best attributes this guitar has and you will not put the guitar down once you get started. Choose the proper strings to get the feel, bass, mids and level of volume you want this guitar to project and adjust the neck if needed and enjoy. Again it feels like you are playing on a Gibson Les Paul standard electric due to the similarity of the neck design. Even on medium gauge strings .13 it is bendable and you will not get fatigued due to the length of the bridge to nut. I own 2 of these one electric/non elec. and have 12 acoustics and this is one of my favorites to play with.

Comments about Epiphone EJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I was looking for an affordable acoustic guitar to use in country rock and acoustic blues. This guitar has a sound and playability that far surpasses its cost. The finish is pleasing to the eye, the neck and action fits my fingerpicking as well as flat picking needs. All in all a great value for those of us that cannot afford an "original" J-200.
