After searching for weeks for a good acoustic and spending the full day playing thousand dollar guitars including the upscale Epiphone Masterbuilts and Guilds, I found this baby hanging all alone and missing its high E string. A quick glance at the price tag and I almost didn't bother with it, how could it be any good? But it looked so cool with it's vintage sunburst "Beatlesque" body I snuck it off the shelf, hoping no one would see me stooping to play a cheapie. Uhh...wait a minute, this isn't bad. Hold on, its one of the best sounding guitars I've played in weeks! I bought it thinking I'm just delusional and I'll return it in 30 days. After getting it home, slapping new strings on it and playing it for hours straight, no way is this leaving. I almost can't believe how good it sounds, with a nice full bodied ring, not muddy but very chiming and clear. And the sustain is Ridiculous! Much longer than any acoustic I've ever played (tons). I may have gotten a freak (judging by other reviews I'm not alone), but this thing positively sings.
I bought my Epiphone used so this review should give you an indication on the durabilty of this guitar. After playing really really expensive guitars, which I couldn't afford I at least knew what to look for and come close. This guitar has great action, ease in playing (won't kill your wrist) and a great sound. What I was surprised with was the sustain it has. The AJ-200 is also responsive to how you pick, soft or hard it gives out what you put into it. It really adds to my playing and allows me to be more creative/expressive on an acoustic. Tuners are great, the look is great and just overall I am happy and having a lot of fun playing it. I really do enjoy it. I slapped on some Martin 10's strings but other than that, it's great and a great price.
