Comments about Engl Fireball 60 60W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I had the fireball 60 for about a year. Its has a darker modern voicing with plenty of low end and low Mids. The EQ is very responsive with a very usable range, which is very easy to dial in a nice sound, however sometimes I struggled trying to find a spot to set the presence at with bright pickups. It Doesn't sound thin at lower volumes but still is not a bedroom amp. The best part about this amp and most ENGL's in general is the fact that you don't need a tube-screamer to get a super saturated cutting high gain guitar sound. However the sensitive input section makes this amp very noisey (I remedied this by putting a lower gain preamp tube in v1 position). The reason I took off two stars is for the fact even with the newest models ENGL has neglected to add the noise gate and mid boost from the 100 watt models to the 60. I find them to be much needed features and wouldn't have minded paying 100-200 bucks more for it. Some people say this amp has a hard time cutting through in a band situation I never had any issues the amp already has a dark voicing so it is a bad idea to scoop the mids.
