Egnater Tweaker 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head Black, Beige

Description
The amp head's gain, EQ, and master sections each have a Tweaker switch providing a wide range of tones from the ultra smooth and satisfying to fully over-saturated lead tones.
Hidden inside the Egnater Tweaker head is a vast array of tones not usually found in amps with such a compact design. Each of the five toggle switches on the front changes the amp head's character. The Tight and Bright switches shape the low and high end from soft and smooth to punchy and aggressive. The Gain switch goes from sparkly clean to an all-out high-gain assault. The EQ switch selects from pristine American to classic Brit and even the illusive VX AC sound. The Classic/Modern voicing switch dials up either soft and smooth or hard and edgy power-tube tone. The Egnater 15W amp head makes sure it's all in there to satisfy the ultimate Tweaker.

Egnater's Best Yet?
The more I play this amp, the more I like it. I expected it to be good, but not this good. Egnater has a real winner, and at a great price. I like the tones much more than the Rebel 20 produces. The tone shaping switches really make a difference, unlike many amps out there. The construction is very solid and clean. I love the wicker grill. The tubes are all mounted above the PCB for heat to travel up, right out of the top vents. It likes pedals, and I've placed the delay in the oh-so-cool effects loop, while the wah/OD-boost/distortion run into the input. The cleans are super glassy, especially using the AC setting. Crunch is right where I like it, and very touch sensitive. Here's a surprise... Metal. Yes, you can get a serious metal roar out of the Tweaker. Maybe not metal core, but that's not what it is designed for. The lead tones are nice and woody with plenty of sustain. If you demo it, be sure to print the tone settings guide from Egnater's website so you can quickly dial in the whole spectrum of tones. Be ready to buy it!

Tweaked Tweaker
This is a great little amp and I really tried to hang with it as I love the variations of tone you can muster up. This thing has very nice clean fat warm tone to smooth lead and beyond into killer chunk. The is simply a very nice amp. A minor knock however is the amp does not respond very well to volume control on your guitar to clean up as you will find the tone drops offs too much and becomes flat. A second channel would be a welcomed addition. Now for the bad... As I said I really tried to hang with this amp but in the end became convinced best to stay away from Asian manufactured amps. The first unit died after one week, the second arrived dead on arrival, and third had pops and crackles during the first five minutes of operation. It seams the guy at GC when I first started my tone quest for a nice bedroom practice amp advising me to stay away from Egnater amps was right - I should have listened...

Great Little Amplifier

I only play at home I had left it in my musical instruments closet for some time. I had almost forgot what a great little amp head this. Very versatile amp sounds good at low volume as well as higher volumes. All one needs to really get the best use is to put a selection of pedals on this amp.
Just about perfect...

This little amp does it all. Very versatile, quick & easy to dial in a good sound. If you need 2 channels, you'll need to get the 40 watt version. It would be perfect if it had reverb, but a pedal in the effects loop does that job. Overall, a tremendous value for an all tibe amp with great tone.

Just for reference, I have been playing for over 40 years. I am primarily a Strat guy, but also have and love Les Pauls, a Tele and an SG. Primarily Blues, but also Rock, Hard Rock and a little metal. Onstage I A B an 80s JCM 800 2 x 12 Combo previously owned, as I am told by a credible person, Eric Johnson with a Fender HRD. HOF 2 for reverb, Butler Tube Driver, and more recently added a Tone City Golden Plexi (Awesome BTW). This amp is incredible. I am currently running it through a homebuilt 2 x 12 Hellatone V30 cabinet. The versatility is unbelievable. It is compact, simple to use, and sounds amazing. I am really digging these low watt tube amps. I have the Orange Micro Terror and also the Dark Micro Terror. I keep one in my gig box as a backup. No longer do I have to lug the Marshall or Fender down the stairs to go out and jam. I just grab this along with one of my homegrown 1 x 12 cabs, gig box, Strat and LP and I am good to go. 15 Watts is all you need. The cool thing is that you can totally dime it breaks up beautifully. I did not know too much about Egnaters, but after watching Chappers at Andertons rave about and his flipping out over the pricepoint, I was sold and bought it used from GC sight unseen and I was not disappointed. I have read reviews by people who have said that the various settings do not make that much of a difference. Respectfully speaking: A) They don't know what they are talking about B) Maybe not using a good quality guitar C) Maybe the cab they have needs a speaker upgrade All I can say is that it works for me and at the pricepoint, especially used, it is a total no brainer
Great platform

I got this amp used, half because I was pleased by the amount of possible clean headroom, and half due to it's inexpensive price tag. I can say I've been pleasantly surprised by what I've heard. I've owned and played through all types and sizes of amps from 100w Marshall monsters, to lunchbox Orange heads, to jangly Fender blackface heads. This thing can seriously hold its own despite its size and price. Don't be fooled, you're not getting a Plexi or a Twin Reverb, but you are getting a handy little amp that handles pedals and effects well, has plenty of clean headroom, and offers several platforms to work with in the voicings of Fender, Vox, and Marshall amps,, which it emulates surprisingly well. I've ran all manner of pedals and effects, boutique, Boss, you name it, and I get a consistently clean, warm tone every time. My Helix sounds otherworldly through it as well, and it's quickly become my go-to amp, not only at home but live as well. It's not gonna get you through a set at Woodstock, but it'll tackle a church gig or a bar set with no issues. My only issue with the amp overall is the somewhat encumbered manner in which the "tweak" options are utilized. If you're thinking about changing something mid-song, forget about it. It's easy to tweak and modify before playing or after, but virtually no way to do so during. That being said, that's the only qualm I have with it. Otherwise, I'm thrilled.
Versatile with fantastic sound

I was looking for a versatile tube amp that could cover a wide range of tones, and this one does it - from chimey cleans to creamy blues to heavy metal. Tone junkies won't fing the USA setting to be exacly as good as a Fender, or the Brit setting exactly as good as a Marshall, but they are both great in a single amp at an excellent price. I'm not a fan of the AC setting; it just sounds a bit flat and lifeless to me, but then again I don't like Vox amps much either so it's just a matter of personal preference. Downsides are that (1) I'm not able to get a great moderate gain classic rock sound out of this and (2) there are so many settings that it can be overwhelming at first and tricky to dial in a great sound. But the manufacturer does provide a cheat sheet for some recommended settings.

You could tweak all day and find new tones...or plug and play. Playing through a 2 10 cab with celestial green backs. Great amp and decent headroom for a 15 watt head. Love it.
