Crafted in the USA, this solidbody electric guitar features a basswood body with a figured big leaf maple top and an ebony fingerboard for smooth playability. Powered by a pair of custom-designed humbucking pickups, the Wolfgang USA delivers the thick, articulate tone and lightning-fast responsiveness that was required for Eddie's jaw-dropping techniques. This Wolfgang USA is made to fuel your creativity and push the boundaries of rock guitar.
Custom Pickups Provide Signature EVH Tone
The Wolfgang USA is equipped with a pair of custom-designed EVH humbucking pickups that provide the powerful yet nuanced tone that Eddie is known for. The bridge pickup delivers a bold, aggressive tone with tight lows, searing highs and a slight midrange scoop, perfect for complex riffing and blazing solos. The neck pickup produces a warm, rounded tone with rich lows and smooth highs, ideal for chords and cleans. A 3-way toggle switch provides access to each pickup individually as well as a combination of both pickups.
Fast Maple Neck and Ebony Fingerboard
The Wolfgang USA features a quartersawn maple neck and an ebony fingerboard, a combination selected for optimum playability and tone. The fast maple neck profile provides comfort and speed, while the ebony fingerboard offers a smooth feel and articulate note definition. A 12"–16" compound radius allows effortless string bending and low action. 22 jumbo frets extend up to the 24th fret on this versatile performance guitar.
Striking Aesthetics and Premium Components
The Wolfgang USA boasts a striking figured maple top with a gloss polyurethane finish in your choice of transparent amber or transparent black. The contoured basswood body is comfortably lightweight yet resonant. Premium components include Schaller M6-IND locking tuners, a Floyd Rose 1500 series tremolo bridge and black hardware. A hardshell case is included for protection and transport.

Sharp frets

Came with sharp frets, very uncomfortable to play. Really shocked at this price point it should be perfect. Exchanging it and hoping this was a fluke.

Eddie has been my fave guitarist since I first started playing in '83. I still get goosebumps listening to his playing from the DLR era. Does that bias me? Perhaps but I'll try to be objective :) The neck is very smooth/comfortable, and access to upper frets is great. The frets are stainless steel (very nice), but at first I was a bit apprehensive about the vintage size (I'm used to jumbo), but after 1/2 hour of playing it, I didn't notice the difference anymore. Pickups are fantastic (perfect amount of output for me). While I spend the majority of time using the bridge pickup, the newly introduced neck pickup is very smooth without being muddy. Of course it comes with a Floyd and D-Tuna and both are setup perfectly. This is my second guitar with a D-Tuna, and the first was an EVH Striped Series (that guitar does require some modification to make the D-Tuna work properly - I did a review on the GC site for that guitar too). Right out of the box however, the Wolfgang Signature rocks. The killswitch is fun but it seems more like a novelty and I won't be doing Buckethead imitations with it. I'll stick to using it for classic pickup selector stutter like Eddie did in the solo for You Really Got Me. The volume knob is low friction, which is great for doing very fast volume swells ala Van Halen's Cathedral, but I do find that I have to be careful around it, as I will accidentally knock it occasionally. The eye-hooks don't work with typical straps, but the guitar comes with a strap that includes the dog leash style clasps fortunately. The color options (ivory/black) are very limiting, but I understand why the Signature model is only available that way, as it is intended to mirror the two models that Eddie has been using live over the last years. In the end, this guitar definitely sounds and feels top notch. That said, if you aren't an EVH fanboy like me, you might want to consider other guitars for the $$$

I spent over a year researching this guitar before finally I bought it. I am a huge EVH fan and love the 80s rock genre, so I was excited to give it a try. I've played an Ibanez RG for years, and most recently an ESP KH-202; for sure, the Wolfe is a substantially different instrument, but I've found it to be far superior, at least for me. Guitar love is definitely subjective so let me tell you what I love. The instrument feels solid...it's a very high quality build. The neck is an absolute dream. It's not as thin as my RG or ESP but I think that's a good thing because for some reason the slightly thicker neck feels more comfortable to me. It's extremely easy to play, and the ebony fretboard is incredible. I did worry about the vintage frets and they took a little getting used to (I have always played jumbo) but now I love them. I have no trouble bending or playing whatsoever, although it's still taking me some time to adjust when tapping harmonics. I do love the stainless steel as these frets should never wear. The other thing I have to mention is the bridge, which is a Floyd, but anchored so that you can't pull it up. Since I never pulled up on the trem Vai-style anyway it doesn't really bother me, and I do think it improves sustain and tone. I will say that you couldn't get this guitar to go out of tune if you tried. It's the best trem setup I've experienced. The pickups are also hard mounted which I like if for nothing else than it looks great. There are lots of little specialities with the guitar which I could go on and on about but the bottom line is that you really need to try one to see if it is for you. I suspect that this may not be the instrument for everyone, but if you are an EVH guy/gal and/or love rock/metal, this is an exceptional way to make it happen.

Awesome guitar! I thought the previous standard EVH USA with the ebony fretboard was great, but this new model is high octane. The new Alnico 3 pickup sounds amazingly tight and clear, and the guitar plays effortlessly. Crazy harmonics and a very articulate tone, either clean or with lots of gain. Ivory finish and inlays look very good. Mine was ready to shred right out of the case. Floyd Rose set just right. No adjustments necessary. I'm completely impressed, and would highly recommend this new model.
