Introducing the EVH Striped Series '78 Eruption

EVH
Description

The EVH Striped Series '78 Eruption electric guitar combines the rebellious spirit of Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstrat with modern design and technology. When Van Halen's eponymous debut album was released in 1978, the 22-year-old guitarist revealed an instrument unlike anything seen before—because he built it himself. His Frankenstrat featured a contoured ash body, P.A.F.-style humbucker and distinctive black-and-white striped finish. The Striped Series '78 Eruption pays homage to that revolutionary axe while providing exceptional playability and tone.

Authentic EVH Electronics and Hardware

At the heart of the '78 Eruption is an EVH Wolfgang humbucking pickup, which delivers Eddie's signature hot yet balanced sound. A 500k EVH Bourns volume pot lets you create seamless volume swells, while a treble-bleed circuit prevents loss of high end at lower settings. A vintage-style Fender synchronized tremolo bridge provides Eddie's classic dive-bombing and warbling effects. These components are finished in reliced chrome, replicating the Frankenstrat's aged hardware.

Fast Maple Neck and Compound-Radius Fingerboard

The '78 Eruption features a quartersawn maple neck for exceptional stability and sustain. Its compound-radius fingerboard—flatter at higher frets for fluid soloing—provides a comfortable feel for any playing style. 22 jumbo frets allow for deep bends and low action. A heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel offers convenient neck relief tweaks on the fly.

Iconic Striped Aesthetic

No detail was spared recreating the Frankenstrat's iconic design. The '78 Eruption sports a basswood body with Eddie's famous black-and-white striped finish, aged using EVH's meticulous relic'ing process. A black pickguard and oversized strap buttons complete the '70s-inspired look. The guitar is topped off with a '70s-style Fender Stratocaster headstock bearing Eddie's signature in gold.

Premium Gig Bag Included

The '78 Eruption electric guitar comes with an EVH striped gig bag, ideal for transporting and protecting this collectible instrument.

It's a cool guitar. I've attempted to build one myself a couple times, but this doesn't feel or play like a $1599 guitar.the next one will probably be a warmoth build. Snag a used one save some bucks.

  • I would buy this again .

I am enjoying it. You always have to stretch strings really well I have several YJM strats if you simply fret too hard it goes sharp. The bar needs breaking in or maybe a KHALER. I hate Floyd's. I am putting my own little red Killswitch just like all the little kiddies are told to. Lol I'll get a KHALER or simply locking Grover's. Other than that the tone is awesome. I'm going to put the neck pickup from my charvel Henrik and out it on this guitar as well push pull pot to toggle from one pup to the other. As long as push pull pot doesn't mess up the treble roll off.If so I'll just hook it up with a toggle switch.

  • Didn't even read the bad reviews about tuning issues.

I use this product to make music with. I was trying to say before I did not read warnings about it not staying in tune. I don't know if it because I've play so long. Or what but my EVH has never sounded this close to vh 1 vh 2 diver down etc. I've got USA made EVH stuff. I'm addicted to the feel of the necks on all of them the charvel art series needs to be BROUGHT back. I was extremely worried. This particular guitar doesn't have the exact feel on the neck but it's still kinda magical. Full blown at volume very high this thing ROCKS..NO PROBLEMS WITH IT STAYING UN TUNE. I STRETCHED OUT THE STRINGS SAME AS I HAVE FOR 40 years mom problems.i I highly recommend no one but this BC I will sound better than you and every one else if I'm the only person to buy one.

  • This guitar is more for the EVH collector

The neck, fretwork and fret-wire are excellent. The specs are not 100 percent as the original neck is 21 frets not 22 and the body is basswood not ash. However it is a great sounding and playing instrument. True the tuning stability using the fulcrum tremolo is not great but you could improve with locking tuners.

  • Do your research before buying & ensure the guitar is New!

The Pros: The aesthetic of the first iteration of the Franky. The beautifully aged maple quarter sawn neck. This is the very first superstrat! The Cons: The tuning stability is very poor, even after following the Eddie setup video for this particular model. A dive bomb always messes up the tuning and a quick dive does not restore it to pitch. The gig bag is pretty much a very thin deal, minimal padding. Nowhere near what you'd get from PRS. If you are into case candy, better order from Sweetwater to get real candy bc there's nothing but a whammy bar here.

Non musician.. I bought as a gift and am looking for a hard case to protect it. I mistakenly got an EVH WOLFGANG case and it doesn't fit. Where can I find the correct case?
