The inspiration for the unique shape and design of the LTD F-4E Bass Guitar from ESP would appear to be a mix of Route 66 Interstate signs and weaponry from an old Dungeons & Dragons manual. Forgoing the traditional, rounded apple bottom bass, the LTD F series basses feature off-centered curves, beveled edges, and points in places you won't see on any other guitar, let alone a bass. The double cutaway design makes the upper and lower horns appear to be a skeletal finger and thumb respectively.
However, the ESP LTD F-4E differs from it's siblings in that it features a 5-piece maple/mahogany neck-thru-body design, a mahogany body with a flamed maple top, and an ebony fingerboard. All of the distinct, natural hues of these woods combine to give the axe an even more unique look than the single colored versions. It really is a feast for the eyes.
The LTD F-4E has 4 strings, an extra thin "U" contoured maple neck, and its 35" scale makes it easier for bass players of all sizes to access the entire fretboard. As your fingers explore the 24 XJ frets your rhythms and melodies are snatched up by dual ESP SB-4 pickups and can be reshaped to your liking with the ESP ABQ-3 3 band EQ. This captivating axe also features an ESP BB-604 string-thru-body bridge, ESP tuners, and control knobs that are all black nickel, adding an extra dash of coloration.

Overall Great Bass
By Tyler Frieda

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:
The first thing I noticed when I got the bass was the way it looks. It certainly has a very impressive look that turns heads. Everyone I know who has seen my bass stares at it in awe. But the bass gets better. As soon as I plugged it in and started playing it, I fell in love with it. The sound is so detailed and versatile. You can get any where from warm jazz to a metallic roar to a subdued mellow hum to a bright slap/pop. The neck has great action and has perfect thickness for comfortable playability. There is no buzzing on any of the frets and there's even tone all across the fret board. There's also a decent amount of space between the string and the body for easy popping (which I find to be a problem on some basses). Only thing I could point out is the strings it comes with, they were slightly too bright for my taste but nothing serious and it's easily fixed by getting different strings (which all guitars need eventually).

Hands down one of the best instruments for the price. Plays any type of music and will always sound and play great. More ideal for metal and has a killer tone for it.

The Price is Right!
By JERRY MYERS

Comments about ESP LTD F-4E Bass Guitar:
Guitar Center had a $100 off sale for purchases over $500....so this $530 Bass only cost me $430 plus tax.So to start off I'd like to say this is a really nice, quality Bass for under $500. It just may be the best looking Bass available presently. The wood is absolutely beautiful. The backside looks just as spectacular as the front maybe even better. I'm not sure how many different woods went in to making this bass....Mahogany, Ebony, and I'm not sure what else. Whoever said this Bass was really heavy didn't have a clue. This is not heavy at all....in fact I believe it's weight is average in comparison to most. It's lighter then my Ibanez SRX500 and lighter then the Fender precision Bass my buddy has. The sound is somewhat mellow....but that's the way I like it. Its nice having a Bass with treble, mid and bass control knobs.... plus Volume and BALANCE? ....not sure what that balance knob is for? I love the way the Bass hangs on me....super comfortable. The neck feels fast....though I must admit there was a couple tiny bumps that weren't sanded as well as they should have been on the backside of the neck, so shame on whoever was responsible for approval before she was put on sale. Though I really love this Bass there is one thing I would have changed and that would have been to put a glossy finish on her instead on the Satin finish. Not the neck, just the body....and that is just a personal preference. I've heard some claim satin sounds better....and doesn't leave fingerprints....whatever....I just prefer the looks of Glossy guitars. Build quality seems great....I love this Bass and most importantly, it has me wanting to play. I can't wait to get off work. If your looking for a great Bass for around $500 then this is one to consider. If the pointed look bothers you ESP LTD also sells a B-4E for $30 less with rounded edges. ESP LTD is not my favorite Bass or Guitar manufacturer but as far as price goes for what you get I'd say, "The Price is Right."
