Overview

The Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2 replaces the Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues and the Virtual 2 bridge model. Its Alnico 2 magnets allow the DiMarzio DP409 pickup to work very well in the neck position as well, for Strat players who want a very warm, round sound.

The DP409 pickup is recommended for bridge but can also be used in neck and middle.

Tech Talk: The same technology that allowed us to create the pure vintage Stratocaster sound of the Area '58 can also be used to design a much heavier guitar pickup. The Heavy Blues 2 has more mids and lows while still possessing outstanding pick attack. This also makes the DP409 an excellent guitar pickup for the arpeggios and sweep picking classical metal players prefer, because it does not become muddy even with high gain.

Comments about DiMarzio DP409 Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2 Strat Pickup:

does exactly what it stated is does. Very sensitive to pickup height, it can be harsh and raunchy or bell like, but no matter what it's always crisp and clear no matter how much gain used.

Comments about DiMarzio DP409 Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2 Strat Pickup:

Ok, This time the Pickup gave me the tone I was looking for.
Tried many pickups and they all sound pretty good. But this was one time when I was concerned because every time I tried to change the Bridge Pickup in my Stratocaster It gave me something different that what I expected. Some were too much money for just a Blaa.. tone. Some were so harsh that the original went back in right away.
Well, this puckup seems to have got it right, for a Bridge Tone on a strat. It sounds a lot like the original except it Tamed that ear biting harsh needle point tone. Got it down to a very much controllable tone.
It brought the pleasant snap sound out with sustaining the tone and it compliments the middle pickup well.
It has that Jimmy Hendrix sound but just a little bit more butter to it.
If you know your guitar, you will understand the way I described it.
I recommend it. This time, I'm happy with this pickup. It's staying in.
