Comments about Dean Edge 2.5 Spalt Maple 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:
I have been playing bass for 5years. The pictures and the way this bass is advertised is totally different from the real thing. As soon as I lifted the box I could tell that it was lighter than I initially thought and it was definitely lighter than my four string Ibanez gio gsr 200 bass that I bought 7 years ago $199. I opened the shipping box and took out the box that contained the bass and found inside the shipping box a small plastic ziplock bag that contained tools for adjusting the truss rod and bridge as well as a small instrument cable and warranty info and no owner manual. Upon opening the box that contained the bass I notice that it was wrapped with a soft foam cover held on by a rubber band on the top of the neck and upon removal of the soft foam cover I noticed a small scuff near the neck pickup and small normal use scratches covering the body almost like it was a bass that had been previously used or on display. I also noticed that the bass seemed to be a little smaller than other 5 string basses that I've played and seemed to look and feel cheap. I put a strap on it, tuned the strings and plugged it into the amp. The bass has for knob which are advertised as volume volume tone tone but only one knob for volume seemed to work and I could tell that one of the other knobs were for tone but I noticed that one pickup did not work at all. Without the owner manual I had no idea what the knobs did or if I was just being paranoid. But that's not all, this bass had horrible fret buzz on frets 1-5. After trying to figure this bass out/ playing with it for only about 1 hour out of the box I decided to take it back to a GC store for a full refund or to see if I could find a better quality bass instead because of the condition the bass was when it arrived and the cheap quality. My 7 yrs old Ibanez gio gsr200 4 string is better quality and better built than this bass.
