Overview

Gauges: .09, .011, .016, .024, .032, .042.

Made of nickel-plated steel, Dean Markley HELIX HD electric guitar strings are light strings that will give your guitar a sound like no other. It took over a year and many trials for the Dean Markley team to find just the precise elliptical shape for the winding wire that make up the patent-pending, Hyper-Elliptical Winding process of the Helix HD guitar strings. This shape then had to be paired with the correct winding process that would produce these stupendous results-the maximum mass for the string's diameter that still maintained the string's vibrancy.

The Hyper-Elliptical Winding process results in an increased number of wraps along the length of the electric guitar string. This increases the mass of your string, without changing its diameter or material.

More mass makes a fuller tone; more windings give a smoother feel as well as a brighter, more resonant tone. This provides a smoothness and performance unrivaled by conventional strings.

When you press and strum a normal wrap wire, your fingers experience resistance as they go down into each depression between the wraps. With the Dean Markley HELIX HD electric guitar strings you'll experience smoothness. These less coarse wrappings let your fingers glide more easily and smoothly along the surface of the wrap wire.

Love these new strings

By Bill Doller

from Hunnington Beach

Comments about Dean Markley HELIX HD Electric Guitar Strings (LT):

I heard the hype as a rep was talking to a store owner in a little music store near my house. I tried a set, and am very please. My strings are the connection to my music, and these are musical strings. I have had them on for awhile, and each time I pick-up my strat the difference is so noticeable. I went back to the store near my house they were out, and the GC near my house doesn't stock, so I got em on line, and am restring my whole collection.

Don't Even Try

By Jesse Loewy

from Philadelphia PA

Comments about Dean Markley HELIX HD Electric Guitar Strings (LT):

I usually use the Dean Markley Nickelsteels which are the best guitar strings I ever used. Since the store was out of them, I figured I should give the Helix a try. VERY BIG MISTAKE! My fingers get caught up when I slide up and down the strings and the tension doesn't feel even. They aren't smooth. But do yourselves a favor and try the Dean Markley Nickelsteel they are the best strings I ever used and I tried everything.

Good Strings - Cheap Packaging

Comments about Dean Markley HELIX HD Electric Guitar Strings (LT):

A very smooth and unique string: the finish and surface is smoother than most due to the wrap's design. I would have given it a higher grade but Markley is doing something with it's string packaging: the 3 lower gauges of strings (E-A-D) are coiled in an airtight plastic bag next to the 3 treble strings (G-B-E). The ball ends are alternately 2 different colors so if you have a broken string or are changing strings: you'd better be in a well-lit area or dressing room to tell your strings apart (especially the unwrapped strings). Saving $'s in packaging doesn't mean string changing is easier; and putting them in plastic bags won't help if the lid of your case slams on them after you remove them from their carton. Just sayin'...

Broke after 1 Day

By Mark Vassar

from Apache Junction, Arizona

Comments about Dean Markley HELIX HD Electric Guitar Strings (LT):

Bought two sets of these 9-42 & 10-46. After just one day the high-E string broke on each set. One set was on a JS1200 and the other was on a Les Paul standard. Cannot recommend these strings at all.
