Comments about D'Angelico EX-63 Archtop Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar has an excellent fret board feel. The board is a little wider and the frets have been polished. The guitar makes a typical arch top sound acoustically with each note easy to hear in chords, and very punchy when picked harder. It can be played with other acoustic instruments well enough. Plugged into my Fender Acoustisonic SFX it comes alive and is a very good sounding guitar. I have found that chording is lovely with all chords sounding full and vibrant. The guitar more emulates an acoustic guitar on steroids when amplified than a jazz box with humbucker pickups. I own an Epiphone Emperor NA with humbucker and its sound is very clear jazz box electric. No confusing the two different guitars or methods of amplification. This guitar is lovely to look at and got an unsolicited compliment in the store where I picked it up. I will use this guitar in my gigs as an amplified acoustic style guitar to juggle with my Epiphone Emperor on songs as needed. I play fingerstyle folk, bluegrass, country swing, pop, blues, jazz, and some rock. I love this guitar because of its superior sound, good looks and its playability. This guitar is a good value for a fancy good playing plywood jazz box.

Comments about D'Angelico EX-63 Archtop Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar has a sound both acoustic and amplified that is very arch top but also unique to this guitar. Like most arch tops the overtones don't fill in every space around the notes and the notes can easily be discerned from one another. The guitar has a wonderful sound when chording and is a blast to play. The playing action is great with no buzzes on a low action. I'm still using the strings that it came with, D Addario chrome wound electric, but am going to try some more traditional acoustic guitar bronze wounds. I don't use this guitar playing jazz but what jazz chords I have tried sound great. I'm using the guitar for finger picking folk, blues, bluegrass and acoustic versions of pop/rock/swing/big band tunes. So far I love this guitar. It looks and sounds great. I took delivery at a Guitar Center store and no more got it out of its case than a woman complimented the guitar for its good looks.
