It's a Crown, enough said?

The size and weight of this amp almost make it seem cheap but in reality this is what makes it amazing. I have very efficient speakers so I didn't need the highest power model but the specs seem the same in the line and replacing an older amp with the Crown shed about 20 pounds from my rack. I have it in a road case rack which spends most of it's time powering studio monitors and it seems very clean. The only thing I had to change was my speaker cables because the Crown doesn't have 1/4 inch jacks so you need either an adapter on speakon connectors. I can't comment on the different operating modes which are all configured by the front panel, it defaults to stereo out of the box and that's how I use it.

A little disappointed.

I bought this amp to power a pair of stage monitors. I was attracted by the low weight and my previous positive experience with Crown power amps. The amp adequately powers the monitors but does not sound as good as the older Crown X2000 I own. In addition, the power supply cord which comes with the amp is only 32 inches long which is the shortest I've seen on any piece of gear and problematic for stage setups. Not a good place to cut corners.

I bought 2 of these for my church. One is close to a year old and has never missed a beat. We had another Crown amplifier for about 18 years before it started being unreliable. I trust the brand.

I have a studio loaded with high quality sound equipment. It's not being used in there. Its being used in my audiophile system in my front room temporarily while my 3000 dollar amp is being upgraded. It sounds great powering my Klipsch Cornwalls!

I have 2 passive speakers that both individually have the specifications of 8 ohms in impedance and 225W in power handling. would this power amp be good for those speakers?

what I care the most about is for the amp not to have any signal noise. Is this clean. I've had some from other brands that are just awful.

All my experiences with Crown have been good as far as signal or background noise has been, as long as you're plugged into a well grounded outlet you'll be set.

Can I still use 1/4 output cables with this amp, or will I have to buy the Speakons?
