Overview

The Orchestra CE belongs to Cordoba’s Fusion Series, a line of high-quality crossover or hybrid-style nylon string guitars designed to play and feel like steel string acoustics. Most notably, the necks are carved thinner than traditional Spanish-style "classical" guitars and have a nut width of 48 mm or 1-7/8 in. With the option of 12 or 14 frets to the body on most models, these slimmer dimensions, combined with a radiused fingerboard, give the Fusion Series the feel and playability that most steel string and electric guitar players are used to. Tonally, the Fusion Series models have all the warmth, body, and resonance that traditional "classical" nylon string guitars are known for, and are built using traditional Spanish guitar methods like domed soundboards and fan bracing patterns in the design.

Additional features include cutaway and non-cutaway body styles, Fishman or B-Band pickups, two-way adjustable truss rods, and Savarez Corum Alliance strings that offer the higher tension feel that most crossover players are looking for. Cordoba’s Fusion Series was first to effectively merge the feel of a steel string with the tone of a "classical" guitar, and with a variety of wood options and finishes is the most comprehensive line of crossover-style nylon string hybrids on the market.

The Orchestra CE is built with the classic combination of a solid European spruce or Canadian cedar top and Indian rosewood back and sides. The neck has 12 frets to the body and an ebony fingerboard. The bridge and headstock overlay are made of rosewood, and the rosette is hand inlaid using maple and rosewood rings. With mahogany binding and a high gloss polyurethane finish, the Orchestra CE is the perfect blend of traditional materials with modern aesthetic touches. It comes equipped with the Fishman Presys Blend pickup, and includes a deluxe Cordoba gig bag.

I really wanted to like the Fusion Orchestra CE. It was very well made overall and beautiful. Mostly, I like the overall feel of the guitar. The crossover neck and higher string tension were great. I could easily jump back and forth between it and my Martin steel string.

On the downside, there was some fret buzz on the A and D strings around the 2-4th frets. It was not terrible, but very noticeable. I experimented a lot to try to minimize the effect - but in the end it was a deal breaker. I have heard the same story with others who bought this guitar. Second, the tone was not inspiring - a bit dead. Again, not terrible, but not what you might expect at this price point. Maybe I just got a less than ideal instrument. I've heard folks sometimes have to go through 2-3 to find a good one.

Instead, I bought a GK Studio - love it - seems like a much better guitar for around the same price point - great classical sound. While the GK Studio is marketed as a flamenco guitar, I'm using it as a crossover - mainly fingerstyle.

Comments about Cordoba Fusion Orchestra CE CD/IN Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I played one of these at GC and was so impressed with the build quality, playability and sound that I purchased one on the spot. It's the best sounding mass produced guitar I've played. Action is good but will require a truss rod adjustment once it's broken in a little.

Beautiful guitar with outstanding playability.

By Pete

from Parker, Colorado

Comments about Cordoba Fusion Orchestra CE CD/IN Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I was wanting a nylon string guitar for the rich sound. I was fully prepared to fight the large neck and difficulty in learning to play a classical guitar. But to my surprise the Cordoba fusion series has been designed to produce the great sound of a classical guitar without the large flat neck. This guitar looks great, plays great and sounds wonderful. I could not be happier.

Can't Put This Guitar Down!

Comments about Cordoba Fusion Orchestra CE CD/IN Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

The projection and sustain on this guitar iare tremendous! Yet, it has a very warm sound. I was first considering the spruce top but it might have been a little too loud and overbearing. The cedar top with rosewood back/sides is ideal for me. I've been playing a 1935 Martin 0-17 mahogony steel-string for years and that has an incredible sound but the Cordoba fills the room. Love that this Fusion model is the transition setup between steel and nylon string guitars. The slightly arched fingerboard is not a drastic change from the Martin and the narrower width at the nut allows me to bar chords without having to stretch. Love nylon! Also, the action was a bit high when I received it but the tech at GC fixed it with a simple truss rod adjustment. Yes, this classical guitar has a truss rod! What a great feature for quick neck fixes! Can't put this guitar down.

Excellent Instrument For The Price

By Steve

Comments about Cordoba Fusion Orchestra CE CD/IN Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

Just started playing guitar again in retirement. I was looking for something more playable than my old classical. I love the lower action, the cut away, the radiused fret board, and the neck width. I really don't care about the electronics that much but who knows, maybe someday I'll use them. But I do find the built in tuner handy. I really like the tone of the guitar and I think it looks great. I was prepared to pay more!

I love my Cordoba fusion CE cedar top guitar

By singer songwriter

from East

Comments about Cordoba Fusion Orchestra CE CD/IN Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I've had the Cordoba Fusion CE for a couple months. Bought it for the warm nylon Cedar top sound. I have a Martin steel string for many years and wanted to get back a nylon guitar for the sound and I wanted a smaller guitar than my old Jumbo. Looks great sounds great and plays great. Started out with D'Addario EJ51 Pro Arte strings and trying D'Addario Folk Guitar Ball End Clear Nylon strings on it now. Love the tone. I play fingerstyle no picks, lovin' the ebony fingerboard and the tuner pickup are great features. Lot's of volume and the warm sound you'd expect from a nylon string guitar.

Yes!

Comments about Cordoba Fusion Orchestra CE CD/IN Acoustic-Electric Nylon String Classical Guitar:

I played so many acoustic/electric guitars before I found this one. Once I picked it up, the Cordoba sang to me and I knew it was the right one. It has full, awesome tone whether plugged in or not; it is sized as if custom-measured for me, and it just feels great in my hands. The neck is perfect and the tone sweet. I love it.
