SHOOTOUT! Celestion G12M-65 Creamback vs G12H-75 Creamback

Celestion

collapse expand iconDescription

The original G12M of the 1960s was Celestion's first guitar speaker to use a ceramic magnet and paved the way for high power guitar amplifiers. The G12M uses a medium weight magnet to produce a sound that is smooth and warm but bright enough to hold its own against any rock backline.Known simply these days as the 'Greenback', the G12M's fabled 'brown tone' is characterized by a warm, controlled low-end, a rich, vocal mid-range and a delicate, detailed top-end. Loaded into a 4x12 and driven hard, these speakers exude warm, crunchy chords and sweet searing single-notes.

Easy to change out! Made my Marshall DSL 40 c much fatter and clear at the same time. Used at all levels, and it's consistent for my taste. Highly recommend this speaker upgrade for Marshall tube combos

Huge Upgrade over stock but acclaimed wazacraft 12". Added warmth and smoothness. UK made… sounds like it too. Should have done it sooner.

I put this Creamback 12" in a Marshall origin 50 combo amp. Sounds better than the stock one. As a better grit sound. Easy installation.

If you have a Marshall DSL40c, this thing is a great upgrade. It takes some of the harshness of the red channel away, but overall just provides a more balances and clearer tone. The signature Marshall crunch comes through so much better with this bad boy. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it wasn't what I would consider a huge "night and day" difference from the 70/80 stock speaker, but it is absolutely worth doing to get better tone, especially on the dirty channel.
