Comments about Breedlove Pursuit Exotic Concert with Koa Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Breedlove is consistently making amazing guitars, and this is now my 2nd Breedlove in a year in a half.
My new Koa model is a 2017 and has a rosewood fingerboard. I purchased it right as they brought out the 2018 models with ebony fingerboards. I'm not sure how it effects the sound, but my guitar sounds really incredible, so I have no complaints. When I first picked it up and played it, the guitar sounded boxy without that much bass at all. In fact, the salesmen said I should have gotten a different model because of it. I said I wanted to play it and see how it does after some hours on it because I've been told that koa guitars continue to open up and sound better the more you play them.
I was given 6 weeks to return the guitar if I wanted to, so I figured I couldn't lose. I actually was siding towards returning it, thinking it wasn't going to change in sound that quickly, if at all. Sure enough, it sounds better and better every day to the point where I can't put it down. The boxy sound is now gone, and the bass is much stronger than it was when I first brought it home. Now I'm looking forward to how the guitar is going to sound in a couple of years from now.
On top of sounding really midrangy and articulate, it's fun to play because of the BL bridge system that relieves tension on the strings. It plays more like an electric and string bends are easy on it. Fingerpicking is easy and sounds so clear.
It is simply a beautifully sounding and looking guitar. I highly recommend everything BL has been putting out these past few years. This Chinese-imported, all Koa guitar is no exception.
The only thing I'm not in love with on the guitar is the tuners. They're not horrible, but they could be a bit more accurate. (the set on my American-made Breedlove is exceptional) Since I don't hate them enough to spend money on replacements, I'm not going to =remove a star from this review because of it.
