Overview

The tone of an acoustic guitar is created by the complex interaction of sounds from its body, top, strings, and other elements. And as you play with varying techniques, dynamics, and more, this interaction constantly evolves to create the rich, woody sound we love. Unfortunately, the standard undersaddle piezo pickups installed on most stage guitars simply can’t reproduce this resonant complexity. The AD-2’s Acoustic Resonance effect solves this issue by analyzing the input signal as you play, and then employing advanced processing to beautifully recreate your guitar’s naturally evolving tone. Twisting the one-knob control adjusts multiple parameters inside the AD-2 to achieve the perfect tonal balance for any style, from delicate fingerpicking to intense strumming.

Enhance Your Guitar with Pro-Quality Reverb
After using Acoustic Resonance to bring back your guitar’s natural, intimate tone, adding some further depth and dimension with a little reverb makes it that much better. With the AD-2’s Ambience effect, you can dial in studio-quality reverb for any performing environment. Unlike standard reverbs that can cloud an acoustic guitar’s sound, the optimized BOSS algorithms in the AD-2 produce lush, deep ambience that perfectly complements your instrument’s voice. Like the Acoustic Resonance effect, a simple one-knob control tweaks many interlocked parameters under the hood, giving you access to a wide range of detailed reverb sounds.

DI Output and Feedback Killer
The AD-2 features two independent outputs for performance flexibility. Connect the Output jack to your acoustic guitar amp or stage monitor, and use the Line Out to send a balanced signal direct to the PA mixer. It’s even possible to turn off the Ambience effect in the Line Out signal, giving the PA engineer the flexibility to add their own reverb at the board. And if you encounter any low-frequency feedback issues on stage, the AD-2’s notch filter has you covered. As soon as you hear that familiar rumble, just turn the Notch knob until it goes away. It’s that easy!

I recommend this pedal for its ease, simplicity and function

Comments about Boss AD-2 Acoustic Preamp Pedal:

I'm a Americana and country musician
I have owned an old AD-5 for years and swear by it for my purely acoustic shows and the only thing I have found is that that box does not play well with other pedals if I combine on a pedal board with the exception of volume pedal and tuner, it makes hideous noise. So now that I am playing in a country band and playing tele as well as the mando I needed a solution that could live on my pedal board and play nice and noise free. No one could tell me nor could I find any reviews that spoke to my scenario so I purchased it anyway. Played show at the big honytonk last night where I had previously played direct to the house system without any tone shaping capability and never liked my sound. The AD-2 passed with flying colors and I was able to play through my amplifier eliminating the thaw added floor setup etc. my sound was natural and lacked the feedback that is always a concern when playing through a guitar amp and provided the ability to manage offending frequencies with one knob which is great! This pedal will be great for any acoustic duties such as standard acoustic or resonator which I will be using. The key here is simplicity and function coupled with the rugged Boss enclosure. Is it a Fishman full featured processor with tons of bells and whistles, no but for those needing a way to attain natural sound, feedback control and simplicity of a way to place along side other pedal with a small foot print this is the solution!

Comments about Boss AD-2 Acoustic Preamp Pedal:

This rock solid pedal from BOSS is easy-to-use, well constructed and just solid in every way. As good as a BodyRez pedal, but a bit more capability to 'tweak' your Acoustic "plugged" sound and tone. Nothing fancy here, but it delivers on its promise and having a TRS Balanced Line Out allows users to integrate into live performances quite easily when working with a Sound Tech. Five Stars!!!

      Good PreAmp Pedal

Comments about Boss AD-2 Acoustic Preamp Pedal:

Good PreAmp pedal for the price. The Notch Filter alone is worth the price. Just turn the dial until the feedback stops. The Ambiance is subtle and perfectly voiced for an acoustic guitar. It doesn't make you sound like you're playing in a cave with dripping water. I haven't quite figured out the Resonance control. I have a late 70's Yamaha acoustic 12 string with a late 70's Rowe D'Armond magnetic soundhole pickup and an Applause AE13 with a passive piezo saddle pickup. I don't notice much of a difference with either guitar while adjusting the Resonance control. Putting a Boss GEB7 equalizer in front of this pedal allows for more control.

Comments about Boss AD-2 Acoustic Preamp Pedal:

Godin ACS, this is an ok pedal but not having tone control or volume out sort of sucks, and for the Godin nylon ACS it does not do so well, I'm sure it does better with a steel string with a normal under saddle pickup. I'm using the cheap Behringer AD21 it works better for my application.

Comments about Boss AD-2 Acoustic Preamp Pedal:

I've only started using this product, but I couldn't be more pleased with the change in tone of my acoustic electric guitars. I never knew what sound I was sacrificing until I had this pedal. Normally, my acoustic electric guitars sound very metallic in tone and feel, but with this pedal much of it's natural wooden resonance is restored even through a whole sound system. I LOVE IT! It's beyond helpful in getting my bands sound where it needs to be from the acoustic guitar. I hope never again to fail at having this pedal plugged into an acoustic electric guitar.
