cheapo headphones kill the deal

By ms

Comments about Yamaha Survival Kit B2 for PSRE253, PSRE243, PSRE353, PSRE343, NP11 and EZ220:

Yamaha supplies a brand name adapter, foot pedal, warranty, etc. and then plops in a no-name brand, airplane quality set of headphones. Will be returning it and buying the items individually, including decent headphones.

Yamaha Survival Kit

Comments about Yamaha Survival Kit B2 for PSRE253, PSRE243, PSRE353, PSRE343, NP11 and EZ220:

This comes with everything you need to move along with your keyboard playing. The sustain pedal and the power adapter alone would add up to more than what you pay for this package. The headphones are the weak link, but not a deal breaker.

do not buy

Comments about Yamaha Survival Kit B2 for PSRE253, PSRE243, PSRE353, PSRE343, NP11 and EZ220:

if I could give this 0 stars I would. The pedal only worked for 10 minutes and the headphones are the same one you find at the dollar store, or at least they look and sound like them. the only thing is worth buying is the power supply and you can probably buy that for cheaper if you buiy it seperatelly. Do that and then spend some more money and buy a pedal that does work.

Power supply unit is below standards recommended for keyboard. It does seem to work though. Headphones substandard.

This kit is a good value for the price. I wish it would have included the piano cover, but it's still good for the price.

I live in an apartment so having headphones for my keyboard was a must. These headphones are of good quality for the price. And the kit includes a power cord. It is annoying the keyboard didn't come with a power cord - I mean who is going to run it on batteries if it's set up all the time at home? The kit also has some coupons and other offers that may be of interest.

          Headphones: 3/5
          Power supply: 4/5
          Sustain Pedal: 0/5
Whatever else was in the box: (who cares)/5
the headphones are actually not that bad. certainly nothing special but i dont think any insufferable self-proclaimed audiophile is going to be buying their headphones from this package, so its unreasonable to expect much more than a plastic band that transmit noise (which it is and does).
the power supply works and the only reason i bought this at all is because i needed a power supply that day for my mx49. i thought it might be worth it if i could also use the sustain pedal. One annoying thing is that the transformer is oriented sideways so that it doesnt take up more than one plug, but on a powerstrip for example it is still wide enough that it overlaps a second outlet enough that you cant plug anything in. why bother if it still takes up two
The sustain pedal did not work out of the box. you press it down and release it, and it stays pressed. I took it apart and the little plastic switch that turns sustain on/off sticks on the way back up and does not fully return to the off position. This pedal is trash
Overall, I don't know why yamaha even sells this package. not because "its poor quality and tarnishes the good name of" whatever no its because it is bad enough that nobody will be completely happy with it, they will then give it poor reviews, and anyone who considers buying it on the internet will be persuaded otherwise. I don't know why they sell this because it doesnt seem lucrative to have something that just doesnt work being sold on a website where people can tell every potential buyer that it doesnt work
