This is a good keyboard for the price point. If you're a beginner or just want to practice, this would be an excellent choice. I only use it on the piano setting so I can't speak for the other modes but the piano sound is clear; you may find the lowest sound setting too low if you're not using headphones but the high setting is adequate for everyone. The only thing that would make this better was if the power supply was included. The kit is for sale separately I believe or it takes six D batteries. Pleased with my purchase!

I decided to purchase this product to use as an 88 key MIDI controller. In the specification it's indicated that there is MIDI In/Out. No MIDI In/Out ports, but it does have USB connectivity. I had to purchase additional interface products to make it work on my system. I should have spent the extra money to get a product with pictures of the ports, so I would know it had MIDI In/Out. Lesson learned.

great for piano students

By Mary

Comments about Williams Legato Plus 88-Key Digital Piano:

I bought this Williams Legato because I am trying to re-learn how to play the piano. It really has everything a beginner piano student needs: 88 semi-weighted keys, a metronome, and a headphone jack, sustain pedal jack, and a decent piano voice. Also, it will run on batteries, which is great for portability. It has some other features, like USB midi connection for your computer, and a few other instrument voices but most piano students don't use a lot of fancy features anyhow. I honestly wasn't real impressed with the sound when I looked at it in the store, but when I got it home I thought it sounded much better. In fact the piano sound is better than any 61-key keyboard piano sound I've heard. Sure, you can buy a better digital piano if you can afford to spend 5X as much, but the Williams Legato is great for the price.

Comments about Williams Legato Plus 88-Key Digital Piano:

I feel like all the people who had problems or did not like how the keyboard felt are people who assumed this would be extremely touch-sensitive like all the other keyboards. They don't realize because this is a semi-weighted keyboard, it mostly mimics the keys of a piano, which is why this is one of the few keyboards recommended to people who are currently playing the piano.

I really love this keyboard, and recommend it to anyone who wants to play the piano but wants to have the same sort of portability and or small storage space needed for a keyboard.

I've been playing the piano for years, and I highly recommend you buy this one

I bought this for my son, who is learning, to replace a Casio model he had borrowed. He LOVES this keyboard! It has all of the features he was looking for. He has already hooked it up to the computer. I don't know all of the details and functions, but for the price, this is a quality item and the smile on my son's face says it all. Great price, quality item, fast shipping. I give it and the dealer 5 stars!

Comments about Williams Legato Plus 88-Key Digital Piano:

We purchased this keyboard for our our 6yo who is beginning piano lessons. It's very basic and straightforward, and it contains all the features we need without any distracting bells and whistles. We wanted a full 88-key keyboard with touch sensitivity, and after reading reviews for several different instruments we chose this keyboard. The one negative thing I have to say about this keyboard is that the directions are pretty confusing, and it took several tries for me to get the settings adjusted for our beginner. After overcoming that small hurdle, we've been very happy with this keyboard!

Comments about Williams Legato Plus 88-Key Digital Piano:

I gave this product three stars instead of five because it does not come with a power cord, and we had to special order it. It runs off eight D cell batteries, but we want to use it on house electricity instead of batteries when we're at home. The description did NOT include the fact that we would have to special order a power cord right after giving the keyboard as a gift. Very deceiving, IMO. The power cord should be included as part of the keyboard. I mean, if I buy a radio that runs off batteries, it also has a power cord. This should be the same way.

I got this because it was such a great price. The keys are definitely set like a keyboard and not weighted like a piano. So, not exactly great for practicing piano. Nevertheless it is possible to do so and the cost overridess any cons.

Comments about Williams Legato Plus 88-Key Digital Piano:

We bought this 88-key piano keyboard to help our 6 year old sample piano as she takes her first year of lessons. Was described as easy to use, plug and play for just that. However, we did not know that you have to buy the A/C cord and plug separately. If you go to competition sites, it does tell you that. Wish Guitar Center told us on their site. We called manufacturer who also told us it was up to us to find that plug. Tough luck. Thank goodness for the other web retailer. Will buy all beginner items there. Guitar Center.com needs to learn lesson from them to provide guidance on other items needed to play keyboard out of box as manufacturer -- while responsive with a call returned -- did not offer any help to accessing correct item. We have our plug and all is good with item. Just experience was annoying for price.

If unable to have a piano or looking for something more portable, this is a great option! You have the use of all 88 keys, it is touch sensitive, and it sounds great. It is important to note that the sustain pedal and power adapter are sold in a separate package. I am an intermediate-level pianist, and this feels like a very suitable instrument to use! While living in an apartment, I am glad to be able to have an instrument to continue learning on, and know that it will transition well when we are able to have a piano!

Speakers gave out after a year of mild to medium use. Got this as a Christmas present (for myself) in 2014 as a "stay at home" practice set which got mild use considering I mostly play on my school's upright or my church's nord. Would not recommend. Definitely should have gone with my gut feeling and dish out a bit more for the Yamaha P-45.

I purchased to practice with so that I would not disturb my family. You have to hit the keys hard to make an audible sound. Nor does the sound get very loud. It does not have a piano feel. Also, one of the keys makes a clicking sound every time it is pressed. I wished I had taken the keyboard back, but noticed too late that there was a window for returns.

I bought this (very inexpensive) piano on sale (dec.'16) to do a steady sunday brunch . . . played every sunday for 14months... in stereo. It's never failed me... and have played many other gigs too. In stereo it sounds excellent, sure the keys are plastic 'synth' feel, the sounds are limited, but I use it for the piano and and often layer the ep... always with reverb and chorus and it's sounds excellent (in stereo). I love to play a real piano when I can but if someone wants a piano player and they don't have the piano, I use this Williams... no one has ever complained and I am typically complimented on it. Of course I am a professional piano player and I do believe it has more to do wth HOW you play it as oppossed to what you're playing on ! My only complaint would be the usb midi... I wish it had the old style MIDI I/O. Still it's excellent for what it is. And it saves wear and tear on my Kurzweil PC1x too !

Comments about Williams Legato Plus 88-Key Digital Piano:

I have place baby grands, stand up grands, and old, broken down pianos. I've also played other electronic pianos. This piano has spongy keys, very quiet sound that is too quiet for any real piano practice. Children learn loud and soft. This piano ONLY plays extra soft. Some of the keys play even softer than that! I was going to buy it, knowing this was a junk piano, but only because I am on a very tight budget and no one was dropping off 88-key keyboards to thrift stores, and I was desperate. I played this in the store and said no way! It wouldn't even pretend to work for classical musci where you ignore loud and soft. Certain pieces I play, were never meant for loud and soft - despite what your piano teachers insist upon!

With that said, this electric piano can't even pretend to be a harpsicord with bad sound. Its just bad all around. I do not recommend it. The $299, on sale Casio is better, and comes with a power adapter. (No midi port though).
