My intermediate violin came with a very nice case. It had plenty of storage compartments and room for 4 bows. It will easily store a shoulder rest, rosin, tuner, etc. It is built well and has plenty of heavy-duty zippers and even backpack shoulder straps and a scarf. Unfortunately, it is the size and shape of a school bus. Since I'm an adult, I have no need for backpack straps, lots of zippers, storage for homework, a lunchbox, etc. I just wanted a a case to carry and store my violin, a couple bows, some rosin, a tuner, and a cleaning cloth. This little SKB case takes care of my needs nicely. It's a strongly molded plastic shell with very substantial padding and aluminum frame top and bottom. It seals up nicely when I humidify my violin. I like its lightweight shaped size. It's easy to store behind a chair, in a closet, or in the car. If I have to carry an armfull of materials along with my violin, I attach a strap (not included) to the rings on the case and carry it over my shoulder. I really like the ability to access or secure the violin with just two very stout latches instead of flaps, zippers, magnets, etc. The negative of this case is storage. It came with two very small covered compartments that are adequate for rosin, tuner, and a cloth and that's about it. There is NO room for a SHOULDER REST. I don't use a shoulder rest but if I did I would have carry it separately. There is a similar model that only has one small storage compartment and I don' t that it is comparable to this model.
