I was undecided between Yamaha DGX670, Kawai ES920 and Roland FP90X I had tried the other two but not the Roland. Once my hands touched those keys, the connection was immediate. Phenomenal action and sound depth.

  • The 90x makes me want to play and play.

I bought this almost three weeks ago and spend about two hours playing and learning how to use this keyboard for my home studio. 1st, it has an acoustic feel that is the best I HAVE ever played. Close your eye's and its pure joy to feel. And, the 90x allows for several tweaks to improve your personal taste. 2nd, Cable to your DAW and record directly from your keyboard. 3rd, Be prepared to test adjustments and choose the fit that is right for you. Learning the options is taking me sometime. I am super picky about the high notes and I still don't have it dialed in completely. That remonds me I have to go play & work on it right now. Bye and good luck on yuor musical journey. Larry

Have been playing a DGX-650 for 8 years now and decided I wanted to get more serious with my piano playing. The action on this piano is amazing, and extremely quiet especially in comparison to my old digital. Having ocd, the ivory texture on the keys is much appreciated and infinitely more pleasing to look at than glossy white. The texture also helps with playing if your hands get a tad sweaty like mine do. The speakers on this piano are fantastic and are kind of overkill for the room I have it in. I've only ever had them at full volume once to test it and surpisingly the speakers didnt peak at all (that I could notice). I very much like having the extra headroom for volume so I don't have to worry about pushing the speakers too hard or blowing them. I mainly play the piano tones and personally love the modeling engine on this piano. To be fair I haven't tried many digital pianos so this might be common but the simulating of resonance is one of my favorite parts about the piano tones. This is pretty much the most expensive portable digital you can buy so I shouldn't be too surprised but I personally love the tone lf this piano. Nothing compares to the real thing but the sound comes close enough for me. I also quite like the e-piano tones. Overall I love this piano (so far) and don't have any problems with it. The build quality is amazing, and the minimalist design is utilitarian but also pleasing to look at, which is partly what drew me to the fp series of pianos. I've found that, because of the action and sound, I actually have been wanting to play more as of getting this piano. If you can afford this piano and are looking to upgrade I couldn't recommend this piano more.

  • I would buy this product again!

I have been playing piano for years. This piano is great for practicing, makes singing along with the microphone input a lot of fun. Easy to use with loads of voices to chose from in any music style. I find myself practicing longer and having more fun playing everyday. I got the piano with the matching stand and pedal board in black. It was easy to set up and looks great!

on the equalizer, low/mid/high buttons -- how do you know what Hz you are at AND, what positions of those settings has the best traditional piano sound. Can you leave them all three just completely off (slid to the bottom). I can't achieve the right sound of my FO90X. In a big wooden church hall.

The equalizer (EQ) buttons—Low, Mid, High—on the Roland FP-90X piano are designed to help you shape the tone to your liking, but they’re not labeled with exact frequencies or Hz values on the instrument itself. Here's a breakdown of how it works and how to get a more traditional piano tone: EQ Frequency Ranges (Approximate) While Roland doesn’t officially list the exact Hz per slider, based on typical EQ bands and similar Roland products, they are likely centered around: Low: ~100 Hz (bass and lower mids) Mid: ~500–1000 Hz (body of the tone, warmth) High: ~10 kHz (brightness, presence) These are just ballpark figures, but it helps to understand what you're affecting. For the most natural, acoustic piano-like tone, here are a couple of solid approaches: Option 1: Flat (Sliders at Center Position) This is considered "neutral" and closest to the original sampled sound. Use this for authentic, concert-like tone. Option 2: All Off (Sliders Down) Yes, you can set them all the way down (lowest position). This doesn’t mute the piano, but it does scoop out each band quite a bit. Result: The tone may sound a little dull or thin—not optimal for traditional piano sound. Option 3: Subtle Enhancement Low: +1 or +2 (adds a little warmth) Mid: 0 or -1 (avoid muddiness) High: +1 (adds clarity) Great for balanced sound on external speakers or live use.

I might be misunderstanding but, with the pedal series attached on this device, does it mean the headphone jack is unavailable? So pedal or headphones but not both?
