Perfect for a Les Paul Player

I've been a Les Paul player for 30 years now, and I was ready to add something different to my collection. I'm not a fan of Trem bridges, and I was also looking for a humbucker equipped guitar with a USEABLE coil-split option and a thicker neck.. So my PRS options were limited. I'm mostly a hard rock player, Kyuss, C.O.C., Monster Magnet etc... When an ad for the PRS sale hit my news feed, I figured I'd see if all the PRS Quality rumors were true. Well, they are. This guitar was absolutely flawless out of the box. And I don't use that term lightly, it was actually setup the way I like it too. All I needed to do was to change to my favorite strings. The neck shape is a Gibson players dream, the pickups sound fantastic, and even split, they're very musical. It's staying in tune fine, the nut was cut perfectly and all of the electronics are doing just what they're supposed to do. it's a nimble feeling guitar, but very well balanced. Weighs in at around 8 lbs. I opted for the Charcoal model, and it's freaking beautiful. Plus, it came with a pretty cool gig-bag. Bonus! If this guitar wasn't on sale, I probably wouldn't have given it a second thought. But now that I own it, I can say that it's well worth the full asking price. I really wish I had looked at PRS sooner. I won't be selling my Gibsons anytime soon, but this was a very welcome addition to my small collection.

I will never buy a PRS SE model again

Product arrived in a damaged state even though I paid full price for a "brand new in box" guitar. Bad scratches near the bridge and dings and many other scratches in the finish above the coils. I feel like I've been ripped off. I will never purchase another SE model again.

I'm an amateur who has played for many years and had several guitars over the years. I really like the neck shape and the higher frets. The guitar is intonated very well, out of the box. Having dual tone and volume controls is great. No complaints.

Went to my local GC to get a Strat. Played American Professional, Standard, PRS Silver Sky SE - then THIS. Pictures don't do it justice. It sounded better (push/pull) then any of the strata and when you go to humbuckers - it absolutely is full of power and clarity. Grit? No pedals and it absolutely delivers. Try it, you'll probably sell your Strat

  • This is a great entry level Electric guitar

I am ecstatic about this guitar! It looks great, has great tone and versatility and plays like a dream. I was unhappy with my first venture into electric guitars, a Schecter Solo II custom, and was looking to trade it in on a Gibson. I'm glad the sales associate introduced me to the PRS SE McCarty. It was just as good if not better than any of the Gibson products I tried out at a much better price point.

  • I would buy again

This is my first PRS and I really enjoy the sound. I mostly use this guitar for playing at home or jamming with friends. It is more than I could have expected. The sound is great and the look is beautiful. For anyone that has never tried a PRS, I highly recommend this one. It is one of the more affordable ones but still sounds wonderful.

  • One of the greatest values out there.

I play all styles of music. As an instructor, I have students of all backgrounds and to keep their interest, I focus on what they like. This guitar does the deed for all styles of rock as well as jazz and blues. It is a great blues and blues-rock axe. It is a beautiful guitar as well. When you hold it, you can feel how well made it is. The only obvious flaw is one fret that was a little rough. I have had it for about two months and I play it more than any other guitar. That's quite a statement for a guitar at this price. The pickups are better than you would expect at this price and a good variety of tones are available with the coil-split capability. If you want a quality solid body for under $1,000, this should definitely be on your list to consider. The tuners are the only part that feel a little cheap, but I haven't had any tuning issues.
