This guitar is very solid. I'm very impressed with the playability. It sounds great especially on the bridge pickup where I like to play mostly classic rock. The neck is smooth and doesn't seem to have any kind of finish. It feels really nice! The frets were perfect. I was not impressed with the color on this guitar. The turquoise mist does not look anything like the picture. It definitely doesn't pop out like the photos. It looks more like a faded baby blue color. Anyway, other than that, its a great player!

      Disappointed

      By mwltexas

      from Pearland, Texas

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

Not a good guitar at all. The middle selections actually sounds ok, but the neck humbucker is muddy beyond belief in comparison, making it unusable. In contrast, the bridge pick-up is screachingly bright. The description in one spot says MFD pickup but in another says alnico. It is, 100%, the alnico. The MFD would have been a better choice since it's a little darker and would complement the humbucker much better, but your EQ would need to be adjusted at amp. The color is NOT the pretty surf green in the picture but instead a dull, ugly ... can't even really describe the color. The guitar also feels awefully light to be swamp ash. Come one G&L, even my Squire (cheap guitar) sounds like a champ compared to this. You buy cheap, you get cheap.

Tone... this axe has a sweet tone. I am stoked on the finish and playability. I'm not quite the beginner (38 years playing) and have had many guitars come and go. This one makes me happy!

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

Ive spent over a grand on other guitars that didn't come close to this one. Basswood? Sure! No problem. I thought the body wood was going to be a deal breaker but was I wrong. Structurally everything is perfect or near perfect. The color is gorgeous, the tone is outstanding, the neck is perfect for my hand. The fretboard seems bare of finish but big deal! Ive got tung oil. Nothing bad I can say about this guitar.

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

What a great guitar! I've played a lot of them, this one is one of the best. The action is perfect, and the tone abilities are tremendous! From GNR to BB, this can handle it all. This is one of Leo's best for a little dough.
So if you're looking to expand your repitoir or buying your first axe, you'll love this beast!

        Versatile, go-to guitar

        About Me Experienced

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

I've bought 4 of these under-five-hundred G&L guitars in the past few months and they're all really great guitars at any price. One reason they're such great bargains is they don't have the finishing touches you'd pay a lot to get in (ahem) another brand. And by touches, I mean actual hands-on stuff you can do for yourself. The fret edges can be a little scratchy and the necks aren't always uniformly smooth. Both problems are easily cured with the abrasive side of a simple Scotch-Brite(tm) sponge. I always put my own preferred strings on right away, so that means adjusting the bridge height(s) and intonation. On one guitar, the open high-E string rattled. Once I scooped out the nut groove with the end of a spare string it was perfect.

As to the Bluesboy in particular, some of the reviews complain about the neck pickup (humbucker) being weak and muddy. That's curable with a flat-head screwdriver. Mine shipped with the pole pieces (screws) all the way down. To get that sweet, creamy humbucker sound, simply turn them counter-clockwise until you get the tone and volume you want for each string. Just don't raise them too much or you'll overpower the bridge pickup when the selector's in the middle position. This one's now my go-to guitar. Oh, and just like another customer said as soon as I took it out of the box at GC, "Wow, that's a beautiful guitar!"

I love this guitar and it fills the need for a "Tele" in my collection. The fit and finish are top notch for a guitar under $1000. I liked this one so much I ordered another ASAT Classic two weeks later and it's also great. It's hard to go wrong with a guitar at this price!

This is my second ASAT. I have a Tribute as well. You think the price means these aren't going to be any good, but that is wrong. These are solid, easy playing guitar that for the price can't be beat. If you want to doll them up with some upgraded electronics, you're still going to be money ahead. I read some of the negative posts on this guitar and I wholeheartedly disagree. Neither one of mine have needed anything but a routine setup and that was it.

The action was too high when I lowered it to 1 mm on the 10th fret (d and g strings) the upper frets buzzed to the point of quickly dissipating the note when amplified the bridge pickup was classic single coil but the neck pickup was total rock distortion not what I expected for a country guitar

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

I have more guitars than I need but only one telecaster, a Japanese Thinline '72. Was looking for some twang but not too much and did not want to spend a lot of money.
The guitar plays well and was setup well out of the box. It was in tune so I assume it was played before shipping. The neck, like most cheap guitars, is Noah smooth as an expensive guitar and my fingers tend to hang up from note to note. Some light, and I mean light sanding and oil treatment like F-One oil should fix this up. Fret ends are OK and better than most cheap guitars.
Very I,pressed with the tone and am not tempted to swap out pups.

The color I see not what I expected but close. I am very happy with the color and finish.

Great guitar... feels better than most Teles too me, a bit lighter, too. Great neck, I really dig the unfinished feel. Sounds fantastic for leads. Works well against my Fender Jaguar's warmer and fuzzier tone. Guitar is not as blue as picktured in the promo photos... but still sparkly and beautiful. I'd compare it to more of a Baby Blue.

I can't put it down. It feels, sounds and plays great! The action is great, right out of the box. And the color is beautiful - think metallic flake in that paint. It is even prettier than it looks online. I was surprised at how nice the paint job is. I have a tele and a strat and I love them both, but this is just as much fun to play. Heads up, though, the neck is wider than a tele. Didn't really see that coming. For me it's not a negative or positive, just different. The daily pick price was really a bargain, but I would have paid more for this guitar.
