I've read multiple reviews stating that this pedal drains the battery fast but so far I've had no problems in that department.

Amazing little pedal at an amazing price, pick one up!

I wanted a delay for my acoustic guitar rig, but didn't want to spend a lot. I already have a Digitech RP155 in my electric guitar setup, but wanted the older analog sound. The VD400 fit my needs. It has a warmer, more natural sound then digital models. My acoustic rig is as follows, Taylor acoustic, Washburn Stack in a box, Deltalab stereo chorus, Behringer VD400, and a Digitech JamMan Solo looper. If you are looking for the vintage sound of analog, and don't want to spend much, this will work for you. My playing now is in my home studio and not on stage, so I can't remark on it's sound in a live venue.

Comments about Behringer Vintage Delay VD400 Analog Delay Effects Pedal:

Don't worry about the plastic because it is very stout. Most delays are 600ms and while this one is only 300ms it makes for a great vintage sound.

This is the second of three pedals purchased that are made by Behringer. Very fun to use and play around with. You will need to experiment with the controls to achieve the sound you want. It is fun to play songs you know well using this pedal. "Home On The Range" sounds pretty trippy! Who knew that an effects pedal costing less than $40 could be so fun?!

Comments about Behringer Vintage Delay VD400 Analog Delay Effects Pedal:

This delay pedal does everything that I want without having to wade through multiple features that I will never use and therefore are in the way. I dislike devices that do 100 things but I cannot find the one I bought it for. I want to study music not electronics and this little guy does exactly that. Did I mention that it cost less than a fourth of its competitors?

Comments about Behringer Vintage Delay VD400 Analog Delay Effects Pedal:

The first thing I did when I got this pedal was I turned the echo and intensity all the way down, and tested repeatedly the quality of sound as I turned the pedal on and off. There was absolutely no difference in the sound. That merely speaks of its integrity of the tone, and not the effect itself, so let's talk about that.

The delay has a pretty good sound to it. Each echo has a slight alteration giving it a good sweep/tape echo effect. Personally, I like this effect. It also adds good sustain when paired with a reverb pedal for an ambient swell effect (this is mainly what I use it for). Or you could turn the repeat rate almost all the way up, and it will sound multiple echoes nearly spontaneous with your stroke, giving an extremely fat sound (should be fun to experiment, but could easily be taken too far).

Okay, now for the bad. Personally, I have only two complaints about it. The first is that the echo is not slow enough even at its slowest setting. If I were to guess it's slowest repeat, it would be an 8th note at about 150 bpm, thus making it almost unusable for a rhythmic effect. Also, I thought it had tap tempo, but I was wrong. Thus it is practically limited to using as a slap-back effect, fattening out your sound, and adding sustain to your reverb.

Overall, I would say it's a pretty descent pedal. Unless you want to spend at least twice the money, I don't think you're going to beat this thing. Yes it's made of plastic; all of these Berhinger pedals are. However, they're far more sturdy than people give them credit for. Unless you're exposing them to extreme weather and/or jumping on them with steel toe boots, I think they should be fine. I'm learning, however, that the power jack is really not in a good place; straight connectors have problems keeping room for the plug in between the pedals. Overall, though, I continue to recommend these pedals quite regularly.

Every pedal on my board is over $100 and then I have this delay pedal. The sound quality and features are just as good as any other analog delay pedal I have used.
If you don't like the idea of the plastic case, purchase the afforadable echobrain analog delay from TC Electronic. If you just need an analog delay pedal don't hesitate buy this one.
