I really liked this unit out of the box. I dialed in some wicked sounds, ala Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, etc. But when I went to download the IR's off the USB, it failed constantly. I contacted BOSS support 3 times, and got #1 an automated answer of read the owner's manual #2 an actual person that didn't help me and read back to me the owner's manual and #3 another support person who cut and pasted the owner's manual. None of their fixes worked, they obviously are not techs at all, just phone answerers, and I had my gear representative at Guitar Center issue a refund on this totally frustrating unit. I am now awaiting a Hughes & Kettner to arrive. Conclusion, BOSS is great, as long as there is no software or downloads involved.

I was amazed at how well the stock presets sounded in this little box. And running through the various amps and sims was a breeze. There is a lot of good usable sounds in this box, and they are only a step away from changing. I have always been a fan of BOSS / ROLAND equipment. Good performance for the money.

  • Absolutely AWESOME!!! Youtube videos don't do it justice.

BOSS make us a computer editor for this like TONE STUDIO!!! Use it as a preamp in front of tube power amp, practice with headphones or use it as a dirt pedal it works great in all these scenarios. Factory presets are totally useless and you must spend time to learn all the features and menue dive, but you will be rewarded with exactly the sound you want. Must listen to all IRs as they change the character of each amp.

  • Lots of great tones in a small package.

A very versatile pedal with an intuitive interface to navigate. It seems well built and the screen is easy to read. Like most modelers I've played with, the strength seems to be in the cleaner tones, but since I already have a Iridium, I need something that does high-gain tones well. This Boss until sounds great by itself; it didn't take long to dial up some crushing high-gain tones to use at rehearsal (we play with everything going direct and use in-ear monitors for practically silent practice). I wasn't quite thrilled with it at rehearsal, so I probably just need to spend more time tweaking it. That's the problem, I want to spend my time rehearsing, not turning knobs and saving presets. There's certainly some element of it just not feeling like playing through my Mesa Badlander or Mark V, EVH Stealth, or Orange Rockerverb, too. For the price, there's a lot of function in this unit. For recording, it would be a great solution if you play a lot of different genres. It certainly does not replace a real tube amp though. I've compared it to running any of my amps through my Captor X using my in-ear monitors, and there's still quite a difference... more so about how the pedal reacts than the tone, but bottom line, it's not going to replace any amps.

Super easy to use. Loads IR's faster than the gt1000 and gx100 with the ir loading app. Built in amp models are good though few less parameters than the gt 1000 such as no sag or resonance. Easy to use with other products that require better quality ir loaders. No real downsides. Verbs are useful too.

I have used it for home recording, playing through a Fender DRRI amp and a powered speaker. I loved the cleaner amp models, Fender Twin and Tweed models and the Vox model. It is very simple to use and the controls are very amp like.

Does the IR-200 as package here include the Boss AC power adapter? The GC on-line listing doesn't mention one at all in picture or as stated. I've checked a competitors listing which says that it is included by Boss in this package. Thank You!
