collapse expand iconDescription

Ultraportable and easy to use, the GT-1 delivers pro-level tones everywhere you play. Driven by the powerful BOSS GT-series engine, it gives you access to a huge selection of world-class amps and effects for all types of music. A streamlined interface enables quick and intuitive sound creation, while an assignable control switch and expression pedal provide dynamic real-time effects adjustment. And by connecting to BOSS Tone Central, you can download free pro patches, editing software and more. Equally suited for beginners, weekend warriors and traveling players, the GT-1 packs premium sound in a compact and rugged package.

Exceptional Sound

Thanks to its flagship-class GT sound engine, the GT-1 provides tone quality and sound-shaping ability that far exceeds typical compact multi-effects. A history of BOSS processing is at your fingers, from classics, such as the OD-1 Overdrive to modern effects powered by innovative MDP technology. There’s a huge selection of COSM amp tones on tap too, including vintage legends and BOSS original amps optimized for ideal tone and response. Specialized effects like Acoustic Simulator, Guitar Simulator and others provide numerous tonal options, and there’s even a looper to enhance your practice sessions and stage performances.

Portable Tone Partner

The GT-1 was designed for musicians on the move. It’s surprisingly lightweight and compact, yet still delivers the rugged durability that BOSS is famous for. The modern design is easy to slip in and out of a guitar bag’s accessory compartment, with no worries of hard edges causing damage to your axe. AC or battery power provides flexibility for any performing situation, and up to seven hours of battery life is available for street performing and other mobile gigs.

Easy Patch Selection and Sound Creation

With the GT-1, it’s simple to find fantastic tones for your style, and just as simple to customize them to taste. Beginners can get great sounds right away, while more experienced players will appreciate how quick and intuitive it is to adjust sounds. The Easy Select function allows you to choose patches by genre, distortion or effect type, while Easy Edit lets you tweak drive, modulation and echo tones to perfection with little effort. Dedicated panel buttons provide quick on/off switches for effect groups, and also unlock deep-dive parameters for microscopic fine-tuning.

BOSS Tone Central and BOSS Tone Studio

At BOSS Tone Central, you’ll find tons of free patch collections for playing all types of music with the GT-1. Created by pro guitarists, these patches are dialed-in and ready to use, and make great starting points for advanced players who like to create their own custom sounds. The free BOSS Tone Studio software provides a full-featured editor/librarian for the GT-1, as well as integrated access to all the patch collections at BOSS Tone Central.

Maximum Control in a Small Space

The GT-1’s three footswitches are smartly designed to provide patch selection, tuner access, looper control and more in a minimal footprint. The dedicated CTL1 switch is freely assignable to functions like tap tempo, effects on/off, and numerous others, while the expression pedal and toe switch are assignable to volume, wah and various effects parameters. If you crave more control, there’s even a jack for connecting up to two external footswitches or an expression pedal. And in addition to providing access to BOSS Tone Central and BOSS Tone Studio, the GT-1’s USB jack lets you record and re-amp tones with your favorite DAW.

Boss had a baby, praise the GT-1

I was sick and tired of buying practice amps with built in effects that frankly sounded like craps overall. I decided to check out the Boss GT-1 as it is the JR. of the larger more expensive GT series... I am totally happy with this superb product.. I have tons of Boss pedals over the years so no one has to over sell Boss to me.. I use it now for both small gigs and for practice connecting it to my larger Randall RG3003H 300W Solid State Guitar Amp Head via my Peavey JSX 400W 4x12 cab... sounds amazing.. the Boss software is great, no issues, effects are flagship Boss so they got that right! You can use batteries or a viable 9V power supply [Boss does recommend their own, however I use an iSPOT and it works fine, no issues]. I was dissapointed Boss does not provide a power supply with the unit for the price of the unit. This is not a toy nor should the excellent price point discourage anyone.. you can record, gig or practice with the GT-1 and never feel like the investment was a waste... I would recommend getting this for any style of playing, it does it all for a good cost! Boss is the "Boss". Get one, play as loud as you can, ruin your neighbor's life with the power and beauty!

Unusable for Recording or Live

I usually just use stomp boxes and my tube amp...but every once in while I'll give a multi effects pedal a try to see if usable. In past I have had a pd hd 500, digitech gnx3000, and a boss gt 8...and now this gt 1. So far the only one I have kept is the boss gt 8...though live I only use the effects...not the amp modeling. I compared the gt1 to the gt 8 for almost two days straight. At first I thought the gt 1 sounded okay...but when compared side by side with the gt 8 live and on recording recordings the gt 1 sounded muddy, muffled...and was missing all higher frequencies. I think boss tried to make the gt 1 sound warmer by eq...ing the highs out...but they just cut out frequencies...and put a think blanket on the sound. I was kind of shocked that the gt 8 sounded so much better...being at least 10 years older tech. Plus the gt 8 has waaay cooler sound effects...outside of distortion and drives. The effects on the gt 1 are pretty lamb in comparison...and boring...and way less number of total effects. Absolutely no comparison. I think boss has just gone cheap. Even the build quality of the gt1 is questionable. It's plastic on bottom...nothing closer to their previous models construction wise. I'm sure some people will disagree with my sound comparison review...but it's really true. You have to actually put them side by side to beleive it. The gt 1 is based on the gt 100 and the gt 100 apparently sufferers from the same muddy muffled sound...gt 10 and gt 8 have way better sound than gt 100. Check out the online review by Andertons music if you don't believe me and really listen closely. Trust me...the other people who gave high reviews for this product are tone deaf and beginners. Though this may be okay for practice with headphones at home.

At first, I was using this running it through my combo amp and I really liked the hundred different effects and I was using headphones on my combo amp. Then I found out I don't even need an amp so now I took it in the bedroom and it's like having a spare amp!!!!

I'd purchased the GT1 after I'd given my old DeltaLab DGFX1 to a musician who liked the sound of it. At first I didn't think much when I tried it out. Then I started using the editing program on my laptop and all I can say is…WOW! Just spend some time with it.

I have been through several brands of multi-effects pedals and pedal boards throughout the years. I didn't like them because of proprietary tone or non user friendly. Even the pedal boards required adjusting for certain songs, and for playing live that's a pain. The Boss GT-1 has a great natural tone user friendly programming on the device or from your computer. A small footprint pedal easy to pack up on the go.I use it on stage, studio and just to jam with. If you want to take it to the street for a one man show with your battery power amp go ahead because when running on batteries the GT-1 still sounds and works the same. This pedal is the absolute best value of any other pedal on the market.

  • Great buy, I love it.

You would need to use some kind of hum eliminator, noise gate or feedback destroyer.

There's a bit of a learning curve, but as far as multi-effects pedals go this is by far one of the easier to understand.

You plug from an amp, to this, then from this to your guitar. It won't work in place of an amp.
