This is a really great set for a beginner

I am really happy with this drum set. I'm a recreational guitar player, and my drumming experience is pretty near zero. I read reviews and was confident the Alesis would be good for a beginner like me, but it is so much better than I expected. I'm sure it helped that I looked at some installation videos first, but even without that, installation and setup would have been easy. Everything was well labeled and organized in boxes. The module is easy to operate and I was able to learn and practice basic rhythms right away. The components are easy to adjust for position, the drum heads feel very natural. The cymbals feel a little funny but that's to be expected since they aren't metal. The sounds in my headphones are great and I really don't notice that I'm not making real sound. There are occasional sound glitches, but I suspect my total lack of consistent technique is a factor. All of the components can be adjusted for sensitivity, etc. in the module once I figure out where I am not the problem. I don't know all of the plusses and minuses for electronic vs conventional drum sets, but given the compact size, the quietness, and all the electronic goodies built in like flexible kit sounds and learning resources, I think this electronic kit is head and shoulders above what I would have gotten with a conventional kit. I can't speak to its performance through speakers since I haven't done that yet, but if it sounds like the headphones it should be fine for most performances. I can't wait to explore more learning like the songs setting and the included Drumeo and Melodics trials. Definitely a winning check on the bucket list.

Good for beginners? Yes. A good upgrade? Maybe not.

I started w/ a Turbo kit and find that had a better rack than this Max does. I mounted all the new components on my old Turbo rack instead. My box didn't come w/ a user manual, only quick start guide, which labels the wrong position for the hi hat. I also had to do some digging to find the manual as it's not even easily accessible on Alesis' site. Also not sure how I feel about the open back pads. Some parts of this kit clearly look like corners have been cut to save on cost where I didn't feel like that was the case with the Turbo. Although, the pedals are a much needed improvement over the turbo, as is the drum brain, larger dual zone stare pad, and tom pads not being recessed anymore. I feel like this is where they shifted cost to make these kits. The ride and crash cymbals, toms, and snare are stereo plugs so I think you could split those cables and expand to a much bigger kit off this brain with some clever configuration of the drum brain and/or MIDI on PC like you can with the Nitro Mesh. I am at a skill gap where I probably should be looking for a more expensive kit but needed a new one in a pinch so I picked the Max. All in all I think this a good value kit

Can practice without disturbing the house until I decide to disturb the house. Easy set up and great feel. I replaced the kick pedal with a Pearl I had sitting around.

This drum set is fantastic, especially considering the price! We wanted an electronic drum set for my nine-year-old grandson. This happened to be on sale when we visited the store and he loves it. Very nice quality, very nice sound. We couldn't be happier with our purchase. The staff is very knowledgeable, patient and accommodating.

  • Trash, don't bother.

My son had been wanting an electric drum set for quite some time now, ordered this one for him for Christmas and literally no sound will come out. Googled it and I guess this a common problem with this set. Save your money. Super disappointed. Will be returning.

Setup was a breeze, I was able to tune the heads to the feel I wanted. I was brought up on acoustic drums and I'm impressed with the feel of the mesh heads, the cymbals are not good. For the price point I'm amazed. Bluetooth streaming is a dream I wish I had when I first started.

This is a good outlet for beginners and intermediate levels. The stand isn't too sturdy, but still is fun to play. I have mine on my drum rug and the pedal does slide when I'm into playing hip-hop and jazz, but overall I like it. It's good for an apartment or townhouse and the volume is easy to control. Headphones is plus to use with it too. I did add it to my computer presonus studio interface and I recorded some drums for a couple of my studio song tracks. Very nice to know this is compatible with computer interfaces too. I'll upgrade eventually, but for now this is well worth it for all ages!

Is there a way to connect two kick towers via cable

Is there a way to connect two kick towers via cable

If you're looking to use two kick towers (like for a double bass pedal setup), the Nitro module might not be able to accommodate two separate kick pads simultaneously. You can check the manual to see if the module allows for dual kick inputs or if it has a "kick" and "aux" input that you could use creatively. Using a Kick Splitter: You could use a Y-cable splitter to combine the signals from two kick towers into a single input, but keep in mind that this could cause issues with signal strength and sensitivity. This would only work if you're okay with both pads being played with the same sensitivity and triggering at once. Another way to route two kick towers is to use a small audio mixer between the kick pads and the drum module. This would let you control the signal from each tower independently before sending it to the module. If you're interested in using two kick towers for different sounds or independent triggering, you may need to upgrade to a more advanced drum module (such as those in the Alesis Strike series) that supports multiple kick inputs.

Is there any warranty/coverage for this kit aside from the add-ons? They were longer than we needed/expected it to last. We purchased for Christmas and by April it isn't staying together when played. Hoped it would make it through the school year at least so we could upgrade. Thanks for your help!

is it possible to use this for Rock Band 4 on Xbox Series X?

    Open Reply - Gear-Support
Using the Alesis Nitro Max 8-Piece Electronic Drum Set with Rock Band 4 on Xbox Series X is unfortunately not directly possible without some extra hardware and workarounds. Rock Band 4 on Xbox requires officially licensed Rock Band drum kits or compatible MIDI adapters. The Alesis Nitro Max is a standard electronic drum kit, not made specifically for Rock Band. Xbox Series X, like Xbox One, does not support USB MIDI devices for Rock Band 4.
