  • Great Software

As reviewed by Dave on 6/7/2010

eMedia Guitar Method is a great way to learn to play guitar. Takes you through step by step fingering positions and teaches you to play songs right away. This software is a must for beginning guitar players. I had taken lessons 25 years ago, and picked the guitar up again for the first time in about 20 years and wanted to learn to play again. I remembered some chords, but couldn't really "play". This software has improved my playing and look forward to the intermediate version to improve my skills even more. I rate this software A++.

  • Generally good.

As reviewed by Michael on 12/21/2010

The eMedia guitar software is a fairly well implemented guitar instruction program. It is quite general in nature and will not take you very far in any guitar discipline, but it provides a nice, well rounded introduction to guitar playing. I've played and taught guitar professionally for over 25 years. I bought this software to use instead of a method book with my students in hope of finding a more engaging format to deliver the lessons. The software accomplished this goal fairly well except for a couple of weaknesses. 1. The singing is so poor that I'm embarrassed to play those sections for my students. It appears that the author is himself singing for the examples and, while he is not a terrible singer, his singing does not belong on a professional publication such as this. I would think that the author could hire a professional singer to sing the songs and not incur a very large expense. 2. The song choices are also rather dated. Many of my students would have no familiarity whatsoever with the example songs. More current songs could be used to teach the same concepts.
