Powered speakers are beautiful things. Everything you need bundled into simple, tidy, portable packages. Just grab 'em and go, right? Well, you may think your powered speaker system is complete, but you're missing half the picture. DriveRack PX is the other half. With the PX, dbx has created a processor specifically tailored for powered speakers.
Utilizing dbx's highly acclaimed DriveRack technology, the PX picks up where your powered speakers leave off. The DriveRack PX Powered Speaker Optimizer has everything you need to get the most out of your stereo powered speaker system. It even includes stereo or mono subwoofer support. With the included dbx M2 measurement mic, Auto-EQ corrects for audible deficiencies in the room environment. Dbx's patented Advanced Feedback Suppression (AFSTM) kills nasty feedback, allowing problem-free operation at higher sound levels, while dbx's patented Subharmonic Synthesizer extends bass response for enhanced bottom end.
With all that, you also get classic dbx compression and the protection offered by dbx's graceful PeakStopPlus limiting. Your ears, your audience, and your powered speakers will forever thank you. In spite of all that sophistication, rest assured dbx won't overcomplicate the simplicity of your rig. Dbx's exclusive Setup, Auto-EQ, AFS Wizards, and out-of-the-box support for a host of JBL and other popular powered speakers, make setup a snap. Louder, cleaner, better sound than you thought possible from your powered speakers.

I could not believe the difference this optimizer made to our P.A. As good as the system sounded before, the DBX made the sound clearer, cleaner, it filled the room with ambiance. Completely removed the feedback in our rehearsal room, the whole band was shocked by the difference it made. The best $300 I ever spent, I highly recommend this unit for all musicians, it makes the system sound even better then anyone would think. It makes you sound like an expert in setting up sound systems..
I originally bought this because of the Automatic Feedback Detection. I didn't believe the hype that this would optimize my system the way that it claims. I figured my system couldn't sound any better. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! The first time I used it, I could tell a big difference in my sound. A week later, I decided to tinker with it some more and dialed in an even better sound! The third time that I made adjustments, it made my system sound like it's at least twice the size that it is. You can't go wrong! The screen tells you exactly what to do for a basic setup. If you know anything at all about using EQs and crossovers, you're going to love what kind of sound you can get out of this unit. I'm using it with a pair of B-52 ACT-1515, a B-52 ACT-18 and a B-52 ACT-18S. The system is super loud, super clear, with incredible lows that I had no idea that my subs could handle. I run my NS7 directly to the Driverack PX, then out to the speakers and subs! Got rid of my EQ and my Maximizer. No need for them now!!!
People say this is hard to use. However, the screen gives you all the directions you need. I thought the feedback filter wasn't working but the DBX customer support answered every question in detail. The technical support seemed far more advanced than I'm used to experiencing with a business. It turned out that I wasn't using like I should and the equipment was fine. I'm very happy with my purchase. Please note that the PX Drive Rack only has presets for mid/high to low end speakers. For example, It has QSC K Searies presets but not QSC KW series. But it does have a custom setting that allows for any speaker to get set up if the preset isn't there.
It's easy to use if you can follow the directions on the screen. If you can figure out a smart phone or remote you can figure out the DR. The only thing I don't like is that the feedback filter doesn't seem to work like the one I purchased years ago. I just got my new DR so I'm hoping I'm just doing something wrong. I still love it and wouldn't go without it.
Whoever said this won't work with the B-52 Matrix (or similar setups), needs to read page 32 of the Driverack PX manual. It clearly states that it will work with a sub with satellite speakers. The subwoofer enclosure contains a crossover adjusted for the frequency range of the subwoofer, and the Driverack PX adjusts the EQ for the total combined output of the sub and satellite speakers, and will tell you where to adjust the gains of the sub and each speaker... Yes, this genius device by DBX really is that smart! As far as the additional features, the only gripe I have is with the compressor and limiter. It's nice that they're kept separate, and they don't distort when pushed hard, however the high frequencies seem to drop more than I expected when any gain reduction around 5db or more occurs. For my setup I don't need heavy compression going to the mains, and the overeasy adjustments help alot, so I won't take a star off for it. The benefits of this unit FAR outweigh any disadvantages, just be sure to read the manual before you think it's no good. For what it does, this baby is a bargain! BUY IT NOW!
I use this in my post-production studio with a pair of Yamaha HS80Ms and externally-amplified subs. I use it for two things: The crossover (very customizable) and the auto-eq. I remember before the days of Auto-EQ, and how time consuming it was to manually set a 32 channel EQ by hand to get a truly flat response. Now this is so easy it's silly. I also specified the DriveRack PA for a large church PA system, and again, what a fantastic thing to have. The DR-PA has adjustable delays on different zones, and all sorts of features, like the ability to add remote-control wall switches to control each different zone. This device is made to solve specific problems, and it does it effortlessly. Love it!
There is no way to to connect directly to the Sub of the System. Only the Main House speakers are reachable. The Sub houses the amplifier with is also the cross-overs. One would have to open the sub's box and dig for the sub's ports, re-wire the amp to the cross-over just to get the sub's channel. Most people are not going to do this.
The PX will work with any speaker system active/passive it does not matter. The sound is great! Try the presets first with music then edit to taste. The settings with subs sound full and clear. I tested it with some old school gear just for fun, 2 jbl 4628 3 way tops and a TOA sdb bandpass sub with 2 QSC amps I used The EON 15g2+ sub preset and edited it a taste.....HONEY!
It says you can assign powered speakers and powered subwoofer(s). How will this work if the Matrix 2000's power is coming from the Sub's housing? If you look at the Matrix's power house, thereۡs no true way too separate the sub from the house speakers. So again, I know the dbx DriveRack PX can support a Matrix 2000 sound system, but will it truly separate the sub from the house speakers?
