Powered speakers are beautiful things. Everything you need bundled into simple, tidy, portable packages. Just grab 'em and go, right? Well, you may think your powered speaker system is complete, but you're missing half the picture. DriveRack PX is the other half. With the PX, dbx has created a processor specifically tailored for powered speakers.
Utilizing dbx's highly acclaimed DriveRack technology, the PX picks up where your powered speakers leave off. The DriveRack PX Powered Speaker Optimizer has everything you need to get the most out of your stereo powered speaker system. It even includes stereo or mono subwoofer support. With the included dbx M2 measurement mic, Auto-EQ corrects for audible deficiencies in the room environment. Dbx's patented Advanced Feedback Suppression (AFSTM) kills nasty feedback, allowing problem-free operation at higher sound levels, while dbx's patented Subharmonic Synthesizer extends bass response for enhanced bottom end.
With all that, you also get classic dbx compression and the protection offered by dbx's graceful PeakStopPlus limiting. Your ears, your audience, and your powered speakers will forever thank you. In spite of all that sophistication, rest assured dbx won't overcomplicate the simplicity of your rig. Dbx's exclusive Setup, Auto-EQ, AFS Wizards, and out-of-the-box support for a host of JBL and other popular powered speakers, make setup a snap. Louder, cleaner, better sound than you thought possible from your powered speakers.

Whoever said this won't work with the B-52 Matrix (or similar setups), needs to read page 32 of the Driverack PX manual. It clearly states that it will work with a sub with satellite speakers. The subwoofer enclosure contains a crossover adjusted for the frequency range of the subwoofer, and the Driverack PX adjusts the EQ for the total combined output of the sub and satellite speakers, and will tell you where to adjust the gains of the sub and each speaker... Yes, this genius device by DBX really is that smart! As far as the additional features, the only gripe I have is with the compressor and limiter. It's nice that they're kept separate, and they don't distort when pushed hard, however the high frequencies seem to drop more than I expected when any gain reduction around 5db or more occurs. For my setup I don't need heavy compression going to the mains, and the overeasy adjustments help alot, so I won't take a star off for it. The benefits of this unit FAR outweigh any disadvantages, just be sure to read the manual before you think it's no good. For what it does, this baby is a bargain! BUY IT NOW!
I use this in my post-production studio with a pair of Yamaha HS80Ms and externally-amplified subs. I use it for two things: The crossover (very customizable) and the auto-eq. I remember before the days of Auto-EQ, and how time consuming it was to manually set a 32 channel EQ by hand to get a truly flat response. Now this is so easy it's silly.
I also specified the DriveRack PA for a large church PA system, and again, what a fantastic thing to have. The DR-PA has adjustable delays on different zones, and all sorts of features, like the ability to add remote-control wall switches to control each different zone. This device is made to solve specific problems, and it does it effortlessly. Love it!
That's right...this is my "All-in-one Box"
This is the HEART of a well-built/designed Active Sound System. It's got a Crossover, EQ (graphic and parametric), Comp/Limiter, Real-Time Analyzer, Auto-EQ, and it SAVES PRESETS so that you can set-up your PA for a room and REMEMBER IT for the next time you return to that venue!
People always ask me what piece of PA equipment I would have on the proverbial "Dessert Island"...THIS IS IT!!!
DBX is THE way to go for speaker management. Buy this...you won't regret it!!!
