Have been chasing tone for years and stumbled upon a guitar fx inside of the Zoom R8 Multitrack Recorder. It was named DZ. I Researched it and found out DZ stood for the real life super expensive 3 stage gain High End Diezel Amp. The sound was too good to be true. After finding out that this amp was included in the G3 it was a must that I seek it out and see if it was the same amp SIM. Sure enough it was. This amp is my definition of all that an amp should be. It has a gain that goes from clean to distorted and the progression is smooth and natural. There is a tube control in each amp. Zoom calls it a sigmoid curve clipper. It is so good. As you turn it up it actually acts like tube compression and I mean altering tube dynamics. I have found that most guitarists are not interested tweaking all that much but this a true art form and is very rewarding. The Diezel amp is like a 5150 or Soldano Marshall or Mesa Boogie in sound quality. There are other great amps but this was my favorite and with the built in graphic EQ I can emulate most amps that I like or hear. The FD combo amp is an emulation of a Fender Twin and it is darn good. When cranking gain it becomes extremely lively. I rate it as the best tube emulator no doubt. Since you can have 6 effects in any order there are no limits on what you can get out of this pedal. I believe the emulation are very accurate and most amps are usually enhanced by pedals in front of them. So it is important to try different boost and overdrive pedal Sims just like a real life setup. I used the Acoustic SIM thru the FD twin with a mild phase to get a very convincing Acoustic sound. The Marshall amps are great. The Free software from Zoom Edit and Share is such a nice and easy program and visually exciting to see pedals that look like pedals...not boxes. Find a clean preset on your amp at its loudest volume. Run music that you like thru the pedal and create a hi fidelity sound on your amp. Once you have a good setting everything works

This a great little muti Efx box loaded with great features, it's built like a tank and the perfect size to fit in my Protec Contego gig bag. But I just could not get a warm/fat enough tone out of it to keep it. I have it's twin the B3 for bass that I use all the time and purchased the G3X on the strenght of the sound of the B3, but was sadly disappointment. Your results may vary, still a good box but a bit sterile for me.

Comments about Zoom G3X Guitar Effects & Amp Simulator Pedal:

I found a bit of guitar polish overspray on the readout section. Upon wiping it off w/ my sweatshirt sleeve, the plastic got all scratched up. Not too happy about that. Not enough ready to go patches. Requires extensive tweaking.

Comments about Zoom G3X Guitar Effects & Amp Simulator Pedal:

It actually looks like three pedals side by side. It is super easy to understand. I have never opened the instruction book, and I am Already gigging with it.

With this, I can run my bass straight into the board. I don't Cary an amp to the gig.

i like the auto sleep / awake function, allows me to leave power amp on, and no noise shutting off / starting up, dead quiet. I also use the tuner-mute function when I disconnect my wireless from the guitar. then if you leave that will it will go to sleep after a while.

Comments about Zoom G3X Guitar Effects & Amp Simulator Pedal:

My pedal board was just growing to big. I mainly use a Qtron, Phaser and FRV-1. But I wanted to add vibrato, tremelo, delay and echo. I picked this up as it has these and more, and the pedal. Sound quality is great, editing is easy and you can get really good sounds from this. You can connect 6 FX in a chain. There is a PC editor and USB connection, plus you can download patches from the web. The displays are large and bright, very easy to see. This has a lot of other fx which are as good as my other pedals, which give some funky sounds. I highly recommend this pedal for most FX, then just add a few specialized pedals. The unit without the pedal is less expensive, I'm sure just as good, but the pedal is nice and can be programmed in the PC software. I use this with my Vox AC10C1 and it works very well together.

Comments about Zoom G3X Guitar Effects & Amp Simulator Pedal:

The Zoom G3X is a more compact version of the Zoom G5, which I also own and love. I bought the G3X to compliment my G5. Unlike the G5, the G3x is small enough to take to a blues jam and it can run on 4 AA batteries - no need to scramble around looking for an power source. It has all of the important features of the G5. The things that it doesn't have - you can live without at an impromptu live jam. I can exactly replicate the vast majority of my G5 patches on the G3X. The feature that I like the best is that you can toggle from the first to the last patch without using the klunky two-button bank selection. It makes it easy to see and choose a patch. This two button patch selection is obviously not a popular method, since the new G5n has added a row of buttons on the front edge to eliminate the two button selection.
This G3X is what I would describe as the essential Zoom G Series pedal. I love the tube booster, Z pedal, extra effects per patch (9 vs.6 on the G3X) and additional effects (rotary and some other minor players). But the G3X has so much of what the G5 has the it made sense for me to have it for quick, out-the-door gigs and jams. I like it a lot! And I LOVE the computer software for the setup of patches - beautiful graphics for visually oriented people like myself. As with most of these kinds of devices, most of the built-in patches are really bad. But you can get all the great sounds you want oit of this thing with a little persistence. Zoom has created a total winner inthis G Series. Plenty of harmonics with no tubes required. Great emulation - good enough for pro-quality stage and studio work. Love it!!!
