Overview

Zoom's G1on offers 75 guitar effects, including a variety of distortion, compression, modulation, delay, reverb and amp models. The G1Xon offers an additional 5 pedal-controlled effects.

Up to 5 effects can be used simultaneously, chained together any way you like. In addition, there are 68 built-in rhythm accompaniment patterns, and you can connect headphones to the output jack (as well as portable music players to the auxiliary input jack) for silent practice sessions. There's an onboard chromatic tuner that supports all standard guitar tunings, including open and drop tunings, and a Looper feature that enables you to record up to 30 seconds of CD-quality audio. Loop length can be set either manually or to a preset number of quarter notes (up to 64 beats), and you can loop to any rhythm pattern, with automatic quantization that ensures seamless start and end times. Programming is simple and straightforward, thanks to a streamlined user interface and the large backlit LCD screen.

Advanced features such as Copy and Swap make it easy to organize your patches for live performance. An Auto Save function ensures that your edits are stored automatically, and a Pre Select feature allows you to scroll through patches silently while keeping the current patch operational.

Dozens of different ways to make you a guitar hero
Dynamics / Filter
Eleven different ways to shape and control your sound with compressors, noise gates, filters, equalizers and wah effects. Emulate the classic tone of the MXR Dynacomp, dbx 160, Moog Filter or Z. Vex Seek-Wah, or create all-new effects using the automatic Slow Attack, parametric equalizer or six-band graphic EQ. Or choose Zoom's unique Noise Reduction (ZNR) algorithm, designed to remove noise during pauses while still maintaining your guitar's natural tone.

Overdrive / Distortion
Twelve exceptional boosters, overdrives, fuzzes and lead guitar sounds, including simulations of the BOSS OD-1, MXR Distortion+, Marshall Guv'nor, Fuzz Face, Big Muff and Pro Co Rat. Our ExtremeDS effect offers the most powerful gain of any distortion effect in the world, and there's also a simulator that allows your electric guitar to sound like an acoustic.

Amp
Twenty-two ultrarealistic models, including simulations of classic tube and solid state amps from manufacturers like Fender, Marshall, Vox, Hiwatt, Mesa Boogie, Orange, Bogner, Matchless and Diezel. The amp sounds are so lifelike, you'll swear on a stack of speaker cabinets you're listening to the real thing.

Modulation / Special Effects
Round out your sound with your choice of sixteen phasers and flangers, plus chorus, pitch shift, tremolo and vibrato. Included are emulations of the ADA Flanger, Boss CH-1 Super Chorus and TC Electronic Corona Chorus, as well as the Zoom HPS, an intelligent harmonizer that plays along in key, and a ring modulator that adds bell-like tones to your guitar. And when you're ready to go after some truly off-the-wall sounds, try out the endlessly rhythmic Slicer.

Delay / Reverb
Fourteen delays and natural-sounding reverbs, including rooms, halls, plates, springs, and tape delay simulators, all designed to add depth and spaciousness to your sound, with delay times of up to four seconds. You'll even find reverse delays, modulated reverbs and particle reverbs here-everything you need to place your guitar in a realistic space ¦ or a totally unearthly one.

Awesome Pedal for the Price!

By Brandon

from Detroit, MI

Comments about Zoom G1on Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

Contrary to the Specifications on the site the M.E. Pedal actually has 100 Effects/Amps. The Rhythm box is useful but not exactly practical, merely basic drum patterns. The Looper is pretty good. You can over and overdub anywhere in the playback, just be sure to put your longest (30s Max) riff to loop in first. For the most part the effects are pretty basic, Noise Gates, Compression, Chorus, Reverb, Overdrive, Distortion, AutoWah, Slicers and Amps. Plenty to choose from and mix. I already have a setup to cover TDG stored in it. The photo's don't do it justice, they make you think that it just photo's well and is cheap plastic but it's actually pretty solid with a metal base. The display reminds me of a early 2000's cell phone but it's the sounds we are looking for and it deliver's well, their signature ZNR does do a pretty good job filtering out everything but what you expect out of the speakers. It comes with only 4 AA batteries for power, it boasts a 20 hour life on 4 AA Alkaline but I only ran it on battery for 5 minutes. The USB port (intended to be used for updates) also can be used to deliver usable power to the pedal and the average home probably has an only MiniUSB Charger or a MiniUSB cable and a AC/USB Adapter. (Cell Phone Chargers?) Out of all I only have 1 Con: In order to access the Tuner or utilize the Pre-select function you have to press both the left and the right pedal at the same time, sometimes if you're foot is tilted slightly you will merely change the effect preset rather than access the tuner or open the the preset you had pre selecteed. Summary: If you're just learning or on a budget, this is the thing to get. Literally thousands of effect combinations at your fingertips. I'm sure some of the pro's would rather get the effect pedals but I'm sure it should be good for even some of the more advanced users that want to give a Multi Effect Pedal a run.

Comments about Zoom G1on Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

The Zoom G1on is the best value in the digital effects pedal market. With 100 patches out of the box you can easily edit, copy or swap their locations. Patch editing can only be done manually and is a bit cumbersome but once you save your favorite patches you can copy them to overwrite patches you don't need. With 100 memory locations the Zoom G1on has more than enough room for me to organize my patches. I use Bank A for my piezo pickup acoustic guitar. Some patches have just EQ and others have reverb, delay, chorus, compression, etc. Bank B is for my clean electric guitar setups. Bank C for my favorite amp model, and so on. The sound quality is excellent but some high gain settings can add hiss and require the built in noise gates. I've plugged in studio headphones and realized many of the reverbs and ping-pong delays are in stereo. You can chain up to 5 effects in any order, switch their order, turn them on and off, etc. You can even program a bypass patch which shuts off all effects. Zoom G1on has a few added features including a simple looper with overdub (but no undo) which can be used along with 68 drum beat loops and a tuner. The pedal also has a stereo min-jack input which you can connect an external audio device like an mp3 player so you can jam along with your favorite tracks. The USB input is only for powering with a USB charger (not included) or computer and firmware updates. The G1on can be powered 3 ways through USB, the included four AA batteries, or an AC adapter (not included). Whether you're a newbie to the pedal world or a working pro who requires a portable backup to your main pedal board the Zoom G1on is a great choice.

    BIG bang for the buck!

    By Michael

Comments about Zoom G1on Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

I'm still in the early stages of exploring this little gem -- but, like their ad says, it's a $50 looper with a multi-effects pedal included. My first experience with a looper -- and at my basic level, it's fairly simple to get started. And it's FUN! Very pleased so far. Wish it was in a metal casing, but plastic works just fine at this price/expertise point.

Comments about Zoom G1on Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

Usually I play acoustic, but I picked up a cheap electric guitar and decided I wanted to try an effect pedal. This thing is great for trying out tons of different effects for less than the price of a traditional pedal. What really makes me glad I bought this is the rhythm patterns. Tons of different beats make you feel like your playing in a band. Also has a metronome setting, but the drums sound way cooler. The tuner is pretty handy also. All in all, i'm extremely pleased with this purchase, and I would recommend this pedal to any beginner player.

Comments about Zoom G1on Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

This pedal is perfect for what I got it for: Looping and metronome/drum machine. There are a ton of effects and it does seem like an overload. Some of the default patches are great and others are silly but overall, at this price, the pedal truly is a great practicing tool. I would definitely recommend it for the looper/rhythm.

Comments about Zoom G1on Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

This is my first multi effects pedal and it is a great deal for the price. A great bundle of pre-loaded effects and it allows me to mix my own effects. The best part is the looper and beat box. The only recommendation to the manufacturer is to have another pedal to be able to switch to the looper/drums more easily (I have to press a small button with my bare toe when standing) and maybe offer an SD card slot to allow more time on the looper BUT do not let this minor suggestion stop anyone from purchasing this great product. I really love this thing. I've player accoustic guitar for 30 years and just started electric 2 years ago and my electric guitar plus this pedal has opened a whole new world for me. Great product.
