I got the 14" Zildjian ZHT fast crash and at first thought the sound was ok. After hitting it a few times i realized it wasn't worth the money. It has kind of a tinny sound to it. It lacks the intensity of a crash but used with the right kind of music could sound alright.

Grrrrrrrrrreat !!!!

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

This cymbal is great if you are playing moderate music such as Gospel, Jazz, and R&B but It isn't great for metal rock or More heavier playing music if you want to play heavy metal look at the paragon series by sabian yet these cymbals are a great buy for a lesser buck LoL

Great cymbals

By Ryan

from North Huntingdon, PA

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

I currently own the 14 and 16 inch ZHT fast crashes, and I simply love them. Their sound is very bright when struck, and they still have a nice ping when hit on the bell for accents. Not the best cymbal out there, but pretty darn good for the money.

Great crash!

By Jeff Mork

from Suisun City, CA

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

I bought the 14" and love it. It's got a fast decay just as the name states. Doesn't have a cheap and tinny sound like some of the economy lines can. It works great with my other crashes (16" & 18" Sabian AAX).I'm very impressed!

Good, but could be better

By doublebassshark

from Austin, TX

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

the cymbal is worth the money, let me say first. but the sound is a little tinny and shimmery. It really isn't very "fast" either, i find it to be more like just a 16 inch regular crash. But it takes a good beating and produces a full sound.

Not bad whatsoever!

By Drummer8293

from Lafayette Hil, PA

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

I recently purchased a 16" ZHT Fast Crash, and I'm very satisfied. While its decay is not exceptionally fast, its response and attack are. It's very bright and can cut through excellently. I'm not going to say that it's the best crash out there, but for a sheet cymbal, and for it's price, it's a great choice. If you can afford to buy a higher-end crash, it's not a bad idea to do so, but if you're short on cash like myself, I recommend this cymbal.

Heavy Drummers Beware

By Nelson

from Plymouth, Minnesota

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

Great cymbal...if you play light. I have cracked now 4 total ZHT fast crash cymbals. They are a great sounding cymbal, but they are not quite up to the test of durability. If your looking for something a little bit more durable think about spending a little extra money to go with a nicer quality Zildjian or Sabian.

Great Crash Cymbal But...

By Kevin

from Elgin, IL

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

I bought this as part of a pack and it is an AMAZING crash. Mixes right in perfectly and everything ! Only problem I have with this cymbal is that it will crack easily if you are a hard hitter. I have the proper technique and the right angle, but it just doesn't last too long for a heavy hitter (lasted me only one month). Cracked about 1 inch from the edge below the Zildjian logo, roughly about 3-4 inches long. Worth getting if you are not a heavy hitter though.

Good Value

By someone

from New Hampshire

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

When deciding on a new cymbal, I wanted midway between a crash and splash cymbal. The 14" fast crash was perfect for this. The decay is not "lightning-fast", but the sound balances well with a crash or ride cymbal. Excellent for accents. Because the sound on a 14" is fairly light and a bit weak, I suggest getting a larger cymbal, like the 16" or 18". However, if you want a nice subtle crash here and there, this cymbal is the best. Good for gospel and soft rock.

Amazing

By Joel

from Richland MI

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

This is a great cybal for anyone, really fills in nice if your set consists of a lot of pre 1990 zuildjian cymbals, has a great hold on the sound. The one thing you really need to watch out for is the fact that not all zildjian cymbals sound the same so you really need to watch out and play the cymbal your buying and not the one set up in the store if they let you. I highly recomend buying this cymbal but be sure to hear it first. Good luck.

could be worse

By GOS

from PA

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

The ZHT has a good song, it rings forever and is verrry bright. if thats what your looking for then its great. it cuts through music well and i would never use it to do a rythm part with it. more than one hit is annoying.

An okay Cymbal

By Joe

from MI

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

This cymbal is decent, especially for the price. I bought a 16" and like with all warranties, not issues till it was up. I have had it for 3 years now, and it has a slight crack on the brim. Also, the sound isnt always beautiful. I found it works best when using it as a lead in crash to another cymbal, using it to meld sounds together. All in all i am still happy i purchased this cymbal and i will be sticking with the ZHT's for awhile.

Best Crash Cymbals for the Money

By Jacob K

from Menomonee falls Wisconsin

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

Some have said that these cymbals are not for hard hitting drummers, I disagree. I play in two metal bands and have a 15 in and a 17 in along with other cymbals and have these on my practice and stage set. They're fairly bright sounding, but i do agree that they aren't necessarily fast crashes. Do take this into consideration: the 15 inch version is not nearly as curved as the larger cymbals, making it sound deeper than my 17 inch, with an almost trashy tone, but still clean and bright. It's an interesting sound that i would definitely recommend playing before buying for sure because it's not for everyone. These do cover every genre on music you could play besides suicide silence, or screamo type music where a brighter sounding cymbal would kill the beat or fill. But for the money, you can't find much better

Great sound, not so good durabuility

By kyle saulnier

from Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

Ive had this crash for about 3 years and overall the sound of this symbol has been beyond great! however, after the 5th month of playing with it, i noticed a crack about 4 inches from the end of the bell and about 2 inches from the rim of edge symbol. i was extremely disapointed that it only lasted me 5 months. the crack eventually has gotten bigger but hasnt really afected the sound drastically. If your looking for a durable symbol that wont crack in a year or two of playing, this probably isnt the symbol for you. Great sound for the price though!

Playing on my ZHT for over 5 years now, maybe longer....

About Me Experienced

Pros

  • Perfect for almost every genre
  • Responsive Feel

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Any situation and this cymbal works great

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

So, as I'm reading most of these other comments, I have to ask myself..... Why are these guys cracking these cymbals so quickly? It's because the cymbal is being struck way too hard. Ease up on your velocity there guys. Don't play like you're trying to break the drums/cymbals. Learn to get a better touch/feel for your playing. I've had my Fast Crash 16" for quite some time now, over 5 years, and it still sounds great. Zero cracks, zero key-holing, nothing. My band plays almost every genre of music, and I have found that depending on the technique used to strike the cymbal versus the angle versus over all velocity, I can make this cymbal work in so many ways.
I hate to complain about some of my fellow drummers, but come on guys. Consider you may be hitting your cymbals/drums just way too hard. Perhaps the rest of your band needs to turn down....

    Crash to Trash too quickly

    By Brint

    from Baltimore, MD.

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

Surprisingly, for a thicker cymbal, this crash (mine was 16") didn't outlast the A Medium Thin it was replacing (also a 16")! I'm a heavy hitter and aware that longevity shouldn't play as much of a factor in my review because of that fact, but it is beyond me why this cymbal just didn't last as long as a thinner cymbal that received just as many hits! Above all, once it was even slightly cracked, it was completely done. Just recorded rehearsal yesterday, and every hit sounds like a choke. Methinks a Sabian XS20 might be the preferred replacement for this one. I can't remember the way this cymbal sounded pre-destruction, therefore it must not have been too memorable. Sorry!
