Overview

The Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash is a lighter weight crash with exceptionally quick and sensitive response.

For their ZHT series Zildjian chose Ultimate Sheet Bronze, an alloy with a higher tin content for enhanced low- and mid-frequencies. This extraordinarily musical metal is combined with ultra-modern manufacturing techniques and extensive hammering to create value-priced cymbals with sounds that are both modern and traditional.

After having stopped drumming I'm getting back in the sport and I was amazed to find such awesome sounding cymbals for moderate prices. I got the 14" Zildjian ZHT fast crash and at first thought the sound was ok. After hitting it a few times i realized it wasn't worth the money. It has kind of a tinny sound to it. It lacks the intensity of a crash but used with the right kind of music could sound alright.

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

I'm a novice drummer. My main instrument is keyboard (all kinds.) I have a basic 5 piece and was looking for an inexpensive light crash. Besides keyboards, I've also engineered and recorded MANY drummers in our studio so I've been exposed to practically every drummer and kit, from a couple hundred to over 5 figures worth of kit. This cymbal is a great value for the price. My "CON" is simply a comment that even when hit as a crash there is a bit too much bell sound in the tone for my tastes to give it 5 stars. A cymbal sound is very subjective and this could certainly be perfect for someone else. As for a clean sound, it is very good. It doesn't sound like a trash can lid for sure ;-). The slight bell sound could turn some people off, but even with that, I still would buy it again.

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

I've been playing drums for over 30 years, and I normally wouldn't even consider playing the ZBT, ZXT, ZHT lines, but I got this one for free. My initial impression was, "this might just work." The fast crash is thin and bright...it even looks good. I'm not so sure it compares to an A or K, but the brightness and cutting power can definitely be used in certain situations. I have it paired with a Sabian AA Thin crash, and they compliment each other nicely (I like the Thin crash better, though). The ZHT still has a gong-ish, dark overtone in the background of its brightness. I don't evern know how that happens - bright with dark overtone...strange. It dissipates quickly, but I'd rather not have that altogether. If you need a bright crash on a tight budget, it's worth looking into, but I wouldn't rely on it as my primary go-to crash.

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

So, as I'm reading most of these other comments, I have to ask myself..... Why are these guys cracking these cymbals so quickly? It's because the cymbal is being struck way too hard. Ease up on your velocity there guys. Don't play like you're trying to break the drums/cymbals. Learn to get a better touch/feel for your playing. I've had my Fast Crash 16" for quite some time now, over 5 years, and it still sounds great. Zero cracks, zero key-holing, nothing. My band plays almost every genre of music, and I have found that depending on the technique used to strike the cymbal versus the angle versus over all velocity, I can make this cymbal work in so many ways.
I hate to complain about some of my fellow drummers, but come on guys. Consider you may be hitting your cymbals/drums just way too hard. Perhaps the rest of your band needs to turn down....

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

While I wouldn't use it as my sole light crash, it ads a nice color, almost like a bright ride. I keep it next to my full 20" ride for more options, when the regular ride is too dark for the room.

Comments about Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal:

I have a decent ludwig starter set with a Zildjan ZBT 22" ride and 18" crash. The 14" hi-hats are quite good and responsive, but the cymbals are like gongs and heavy. I am not a metal smasher, crisp, tight and ghosty is more my style. I replaced my snare with a used Steve Jordan 13 x 6 with a remo sound control head which brought me to a whole new level. This fast crash which I use as a primary crash (currently) is on that same level. For low price, so, so worth it. Great sustain and responsiveness. Love it

I owned a 15-inch Zildjian A many, many years ago. When I went looking for one, I came across this ZHT crash cymbal. Overall, the sound & feel weren't too bad, but it was a bit dark. I am not a heavy hitter, and I only play once per week. Sadly, the cymbal cracked after 3-4 years, For this reason, I cannot recommend this cymbal.
