This cymbal is suprisingly good. ZBT has some bad cymbals but this is probably the best of that line, and the hats are good. It's not to dirty and has a overall good consistent sound. The bell has a good tone and cuts pretty good, it can be pretty loud if hit hard. The bow of the cymbal is hard to get to loud and if u do it's not very defined, but that's when u hit it pretty hard. I used it live and it sounded great. I recommend it if ur lower on crash, or just not rich.

I usually can make good use of overly loud cymbal. This cymbal is no exception. This cymbal is good for the money that is asked, but the overtones are obnoxious. I actually had to tape paper towels to the bottom of the thing just to get it to sound resonably loud rather that louder than my crash cymbal (which it is). The bell has very good accents but only sounds good with nylon tips.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

For the record I've played professionally (weekends) for 40 some years, but have never been "gear snob" and to like to find playable gear at reasonable prices. In recent years I've seen a significant rise in quality in lower priced items.

While this ride is low in price I find that it is quite playable. It Is a musical instrument and as such can be reflective of the skill of the player. If one bangs the bejeebuz out of it, it will sound pretty unpleasant and trashy. I find it plays best with a llighter touch. I find the ping to be pleasant, higher pitched, and it will still cut and be heard. Keeping the touch light keeps the wash and excessive ringing down. As others have pointed out, it can get a little ringier and washier than a pricier cymbal, but it's controllable with that lighter touch, or some strategically placed gaff tape. I prefer not to do that (tape) myself.

I like the bell...I play it with the butt end and hit harder to get a cowbell clang. It's not subtle in that regard, but that's the way (uh-huh) I like it. Playing it softer gives me a decent bell sound. I use the bells of my other cymbals for some variety.

It records well for me. The higher pitched ping Is my personal preference and it works well for the 50's, 60's and surf rock tunes that I like to record.

Bottom line...of course there are better cymbals that cost more. This ride can be clangy and ringy if you are heavy handed, but it is pleasant and usable with a lighter touch. The tone is brighter than some may prefer. But overall I like it a lot, which was a surprise given the cost. I'd certainly recommend it for a beginner on a budget, and for an experienced player to add variety to his or her cymbal mix.

      Good Ride for the price

      By Gio

      from Navarre FL

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

A lot of people criticize the Zildjian ZBT series but I think it sounds really good for the price in comparison to other cymbals. When it comes to cymbals, Zildjian is a strong name brand to own. I recently purchased my third drum kit and I got the ZBT series cymbals with this kit which included a ride and they sound much better than the Sabian B8 series I had with my second kit. I've also gone with the lower end Meinl HCS series for my first kit and they didn't sound great either. The cymbals have a brilliant finish and look great. If you have the money to spend on high end cymbals, go for it! Zilidjian ZBT series cymbals are great if you're on a budget.

      Get this, otherwise you're stupid.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

This is the perfect ride cymbal for beginners, amateurs, and professionals. This is the one of the nicest ride cymbals and best of all it's cheap. This cymbal is heavy so make sure you have the right stand. (I recommend the sound percussion brand stand because it's very heavy duty.) This ride cuts through sound like a hot knife in butter, it sounds wonderful and is great for any style of music. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A RIDE, GET THIS.

A trash can would be better.

      By Achintya

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

This ride cymbal is an absolute piece of scrap metal. The sustain in this thing lasts like 10 seconds of a gentle hit, and is all ugly overtones. The bell sounds like a cheap cowbell. Don't even thing of crashing it, unless you want to give yourself a case of premature hearing impairment. Even the Paiste 101 ride is better than this.

I got this ride for my drums and couldnt be happier. It has a nice ping sound for such a cheap cymbal. Ziljian always makes good quality stuff. I also really like the bell. Its a great buy!

      Good Ride

      By Zak

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

Ive had this ride for about 6 months and its been a good cymbal i guess. There has a been a few signs of soon to be cracks, but it hasnt cracked yet. I am a fairly light hitter. This is a good ride overall. I think the zbt crash is better than this ride

An excellent chioce for the money!

      By Lee

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

I bought a used ZBT ride for $40 at GC here in La Mesa, CA, in excellent condition. I already owned one for my practice kit. I bought A second one for my main kit because, it's just a great ride for the money! The best sound on the ride is in the bow (center), although it has a slightly long sustain. The bell has a great tone but the projection and volume is a little weak. For the price, I can deal with these issues. I definitely recommend this ride!

Most Reliable Ride for My Beginning Years

      By Dominick Guerra

      from Flushing, Michigan

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

When my dad bought me my first ride, the 20" ZBT ride was it. I have recorded with this ride in my band and it sounded like a $400 ride. I was astounded by its tone and does have some what of a ping!!! This is definatly the ride choice for a beginner and for the money. I think this is the BEST cymbal on the zbt line that actually sounds somewhat professional.

      Good cymbal

      By Tyler

      from Waunakee, WI

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

I got this a short while after getting the 16 inch crash, which I am more than pleased with. The crash I bought hasn't cracked or dented after 6 months of being the main cymbal thats beat on and both cymbals have a bright sound that beats even the more expensive crashes and rides. It has a good size bell as well. After owning these 2 ZBT's, I am planning on buying the starter pack as well so I can have the 14, 16 and 18 crashes with the hi hats and ride. Overall good cymbals.
