No diversity

Comments about Zildjian Z3 Mega Bell Ride Cymbal:

I'll start off by stating the obvious; this ride has a killer bell that will cut through any mix- in the studio or on stage. That said, you really only have two options for playing this beast. You can hit the bell with the tip of your stick or you can bash it with the shoulder. As soon as you stray from the bell and try to play on the bow at all though the cymbal loses any tone it had, gets completely washy with no definition or volume, and may as well be a gong (with no shimmering crash). I play metal, and I would highly suggest either saving a ton of money and going with a Zil-Bell (it's just as useful as this Spartan shield) or investing a little more money and going with the Sabian HH Powerbell if a massive bell is what you're going for.

Consistent, defined, and powerful

Comments about Zildjian Z3 Mega Bell Ride Cymbal:

Right off the bat, this is a metal/punk/rock ride, if your looking for some versatility, there are better options out there. When I joined a metal group my k zildjian dark medium ride wasn't going to hold up. I came across this ride and I was very satisfied. The bell projection is great (and loud!), it has a very defined ping for some hard hitting grooves, and the sustain isn't too long. It's a very heavy and durable cymbal with great sound, the only downside is the lack of versatility. Besides that it's a great cymbal at a very fair price.

Comments about Zildjian Z3 Mega Bell Ride Cymbal:

I got this ride a couple of weeks after the Z Custom series was replaced by the new-and-improved Z3 series, and I absolutely LOVE it. Especially the bell, which can project loudly and be filling enough for the kind of music that I play. The stick definition is good as well, and the crash isn't bad either. I'd recommend this ride to any hard-hitting player. If the bell is too obnoxious for you, then go with an A ping ride. It's got a nice bell and ping, also. Overall, this is an amazing cymbal that I recommend.
