I bought this about three months ago. This thing is freaking loud! I love it. This cymbal is awesome if you like loud, cutting, and bright. It's super thick, I don't think I could crack this thing if I beat it with an aluminum baseball bat. I was always looking for a bright, cutting, big bell, and this bell is amazing, with a great body too. Needless to say, you could not crash on this thing. The only other thing I could say may be a problem is I have this and some Zildjian K Cusom cymbals, and it has no chemistry, also the volume of the cymbals are all too different. I ended up getting more Z Customs to even it out. But if you want a tip, the Z custom Zildjians go well with the A custom Zildjians if you dont like the crashes, splashes, hi-hats, etc. that Z custom Zildjians have to offer.

I owned this ride for about 4 years, and I've played in everyhing from heavy metal to praise and worship. It is a one trick pony. Very loud and very unarticulated in the bell. The only way to get a good ping is by flirting with the bell on the side of your stick, otherwise its a pang. Extremly long sustain, and is very harsh when crashed. and EXTREMLY heavy, it tore my tuxedo case in half. I have an AAX stage ride and I love it. It is very versatile and sounds amazing and no where near as heavy. check it out.

Comments about Zildjian Z Custom Ride:

I just bough this ride about a week ago, cause I snapped an a custom, and its pretty much the same, I like the tone, and stick definition, could use a better bell tough, but just like the A but cheaper. Definitely a good buy.

Exactly what I wanted

By mtucliff-xpwWj

Comments about Zildjian Z Custom Ride:

I have had this ride for about 6 months now. I play in a metal band, and I have always needed a ride that can cut through the mix (I play the ride about 2/3 of the time, and hihat only 1/3). This ride cuts through great, without being too loud. The bell has a nice tone and I've had no trouble getting it to ring out nice. If you want a ride with some volume, but not so much that it drowns everything out, this is the one.

Perfect for metal

By MikeZeign

from Polo Illinois

Comments about Zildjian Z Custom Ride:

I play in a metal band, and this cymbol is the perfect thing for me. Its clean sounding and allows the focus to remain on the drums other than the cymbol while still keeping up the energy. Its low movement is perfect for fast beats. The bell shots sound better than on any cymbol I have ever played on. It is truely the drummers ride.

Nice Ride

Comments about Zildjian Z Custom Ride:

I got this ride just recently and am amazed. This ride is very "pingy" and the bell is unbeatable. I use the bell often and love the way it sounds. This cymbal is for you if you love riding on the bell of cymbals. Great job zildjian.

Comments about Zildjian Z Custom Ride:

this ride is so good. the stick definition is amazing. I bought an a custom 22" ride as well, expecting it to have even better stick definition, but the z custom put it to shame. this cymbal is awesome.

Decent, but limited

By InTheWrist

Comments about Zildjian Z Custom Ride:

Well, this cymbal IS what it claims to be. It possesses very good stick definition, is loud, and in a heavy rock/noize/chaos setting it will cut through, no doubt. Its tone is pretty decent. But one can't coax a whole lot of variation out of it... it isn't a nuanced ride. Also, I agree w/ others, the bell should produce a better tone than it does. Looks hecka cool. just bend at the waist when you pick it up, to avoid a hernia.

I like the sound for riding but if you want to crash on it, it doesn't sound very good.

Zildjian Z Custom Ride (20

By eratyptin

from Longmont, CO

Comments about Zildjian Z Custom Ride:

I own this cymbal and it is currently in my setup. It has a very nice sound and tone to it and is extremely heavy and durable. It cuts through very well in a very loud band. I would buy this cymbal again if I had to, but I don't think it could even break if I dropped it from a two or three story building...it is that durable.
