Dennis Chambers challenged Zildjian to recreate the "ridiculously trashy sound" of a crash cymbal he had found on a trip to China. The result is the Oriental Crash of Doom, a truly one-of-a-kind monster crash that's ultra-trashy and very dark and low-pitched. Features an immediate, explosive attack and a tremendous, broad, full-bodied sustain. An exceptionally exotic sound for special accents and effects.

Comments about Zildjian Oriental Crash of Doom:

I recently purchased this amazing cymbal online without hearing it first. Which can make most people hesitant. I can assure anyone this is the cymbal for any style of music. I use it for the rock/metal stuff and it cuts through perfectly. But this cymbal sits perfect as a main ride for the jazz sessions. Excellent tone and stick definition. Not over washy and perfect for accents as well.

Could be the best Crash or a solid left side Ride

Dream come true Crash / Ride

Comments about Zildjian Oriental Crash of Doom:

This is a perfect cymbal. Just how I like my cymbals to sound...Dark, Complex, ABSOLUTELY FILTHY, low pitched. And although it is a trashy cymbal its not the hash/abrasive sound that a china cymbal has. Its more of a subdued trashy growl. BEAUTIFUL! Great as a ride to.

      This cymbal haunts me

      By Peter Murphy

Comments about Zildjian Oriental Crash of Doom:

I've had the 20" crash of doom for 2 weeks and have played one gig with it. Love it. It sounds evil. Dennis Chambers didn't inspire the cymbal, Darth Vader did. I also got it along with the 19" K dark thin crash and although that too is a terrific cymbal I prefer this one. I've done a little recording with it and it just comes through the mix so well with its distinct sound. I find myself hitting this cymbal about 4 or 5 times the amount I hit my dark crash per song. It sounds great to tap it lightly and let it accompany your ride cymbal pattern. I love this cymbal and the rest of my band does too.

      The Doom Brings the BOOM!!

Comments about Zildjian Oriental Crash of Doom:

One of the very last cymbals I'm looking to buy for a long time, the Crash of Doom is better than I could've imagined... Yeah, it's pretty loud, really low-pitched, and has plenty of trashy overtones, but it really is more than an "effect/accents only" cymbal. My other crashes are A Customs, and they blend together unbelievably well!! But don't get me wrong, when opened up, it's an "explosion" that takes it up a big notch. Especially if you're looking at adding a lower pitched crash to your set-up (anything around 19"-20"), you really need to check this out. The Crash of Doom can easily be one of the "main" crashes in your cymbal arsenal!! I would've been okay with getting a larger A Custom Medium crash, but I'm so happy that I switched it up a little, and I bet you would be too!!

      Dark, loud and very responsive

      By Muralla_01

Comments about Zildjian Oriental Crash of Doom:

Im typically a Paiste kind of guy when it comes into cymbals, but this crash is one of the best cymbals Ive ever come around. It is very good for background effects and its fun to play when your trashing at the end. Ive owned this cymbal for about 5 years and Im about to buy my second one. The first one gave up already and now its time to use up my second Crash Of Doom! recommend it if you are trying to build a "big set" of cymbals.

The greatest cymbal i have ever played

      By Antos

      from Dunwoody, GA

Comments about Zildjian Oriental Crash of Doom:

I have never played a cymbal like this one before. I just bought the 20" crash of doom because my old band teacher had it on his set and i instantly fell in love with it. It has a great explosive sound that cuts through the voice of any other cymbal. It packs a punch during rock songs, but can also be played softer for jazz and still sound really great. Even though the crash of doom might be pretty expensive, any drummer will tell you that it is totally worth the bucks and you will be completely satisfied with it's performance. Get this cymbal, trust me, you won't regret it!!!

      Dark and Trashy

      By ThisDyingSoul

      from Iowa

Comments about Zildjian Oriental Crash of Doom:

I have had my 20 inch Oriental Crash of Doom for about 8 months now. It is truly a unique cymbal. Currently I have it mounted up high and to my right on a yellow Aquarian cymbal spring, and it sounds great. In the past I have mounted low and flat as a second ride and been very happy as well. I try to be selective when hitting this cymbal, but when I do there is a definite change in the sound coming from my kit. It sounds great when played with brushes, mallets, or sticks. The sound is dark, trashy, and can be very loud when struck with an aggressive stroke. I have gotten many compliments on this cymbal live. Overall, it is really a great cymbal that is worth checking into if you want something a little different.

      A monster cymbal

      By drummer72j

      from Spokane, WA

Comments about Zildjian Oriental Crash of Doom:

If you play any lighter music that doesn't require a lot of sound from the cymbal, this probably isn't the right cymbal for you. This cymbal provides a very deep china like sound without the attack but when hit harder produces a mix between a crash and china. Extremely loud. But it's made by zildjian so it's outstanding quality. This is my favorite effect cymbal and has never bent or cracked in two years.
