As a metal drummer influenced heavily by such drummers as Lars Ulrich, Mike Portnoy and even The Rev as of late, I've always been a big fan of the power, raw sound and sheer brutality of a good china cymbal. A china is definitely a flavor to a set that I think every metal drummer should have. But, the trouble is finding a china cymbal with enough cut, brutality, and even musicality to fit the heavy music around you. Well, I was at my local Guitar Center looking for a new china, when, on an impulse, I tried out the 18" Oriental China. I could not believe how quick and brutal the sound was. It was so unbelievably unique and tasteful that I fell in love with it immediately. A few months later, I began to want more sounds to my set (like every other superflous set-loving prog drummer) and tried out the 16" Oriental. Again, I was more than amazed. This one had even MORE brutality, cut and sheer VOLUME than the 18". I was so pleased with the 16 and 18" Orientals that I also purchased the 12" which had an amazingly tasty, almost ping-like bite to it that I absolutely adored. After playing these three chinas, I can honestly say that I will never need to search for another type of china cymbal ever again.

oodlez of brutal

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

This really is the best china I have ever heard. When I was in the market I would hear chinas used by other drummers. and I would just hate it. I'm a real stickler when it comes to good chinas. Then I heard the oriental. Its amazing. So much better than any other zildjian china. Or sabian or meinl. Really its top of the line. Get it. must have.

Metalheads must look at this cymbal!!!!

By Matthew Ealey

from Elbert, CO

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

I bought this cymbal in an emergency situation. I had cracked my other cymbal at a gig on Friday, and I had another gig on Saturday. My guitarists immediately noticed a difference. This thing is loud and trashy. I repeat LOUD. I have the 20 inch and I love it. I had a Custom K China before and I liked that alot, but this one seems to withstand the abuse better. If you want a killer cymbal at a decent price, this is the one that you want.

Another Zildjian Gem

By Stenchof76

from KC, MO

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

After testing a bunch of different china cymbals, both in brand and sizes, this is one of the top 3 that I've heard/played with. Strong cutting ability, a great higher-end musical accent, a decay that isn't too short, and an awesome trashy sound is what this cymbal delivers. I want my cymbals to each have a unique "voice" (I'm not the type who wants 2 of the exact same crashes), and the 16" will add another dimension to my kit and playing that I've been looking for. While I eventually may get a larger, lower-pitched china, I know this one has all of the qualities I'm looking for, and will work well with my A Customs and the other Oriental cymbals I plan on getting soon.

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

I received this as a christmas gift and was quite impressed with its sound. To tell the truth it is the best china I've ever heard. It delivers sharp, powerful, trashy attack and quick decay. It's perfect for rock. You will not be sorry if you get this.

Perfect

By James Duford

from Brownstown, MI

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

If anyone is looking for the perfect rock or metal china then look no further. This cymbal sounds exactly like every China you've heard in a heavy song. It is fast and bright while still retaining the "trashy" sound. I chose this specific cymbal after checking out Zildjian's website, where they have sound bites of each cymbal and I would highly suggest you give it a listen to see if it is actually what you're looking for.

BANG!!!

By Drummerboy15

from Des Moines, IA

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

I have tried and played the 18" China in the store. It has a deep and dark musical trashy crash sound that pierces through the rest of the loud, bangy music! The smaller ones are for more of an accent, but the bigger Zildjian Oriental Chinas have a sound that flows more with the other cymbals and music. I own a 12" China, and it has more than enough of a high tone, so I reccomend a bigger cymbal. These cymbals blend in with almost all types of music!

JESUS CYMBAL

By Adam

from Miami, FL

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

This china is GOD! The name describes it perfectly, Thrash! It gives any groove or rythem that final kick you need. It has a heavy sound that pierces through the sound to really stand out. It also sounds great as a soft extra with softer groove. I recomend this cymbal to anyone!

AMAZING!!(16'')

By Eric

from Fort Lauderdale, FL

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

I was kinda nervous about buying this because I heard Zildjian makes bad chinas, but this cymbal this amazing. Its great for metal and its so trashy and crisp at the same time with a good delay. This was a little out of my budget but it is definitely worth it. Sounds better than most chinas I've ever listened to of any brand. Get it!

Get the Pro Coverage if you buy the 12"!

By Michael Priest

from Conway, Arkansas

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

As far as sound is concerned, I LOVE IT! The 12" is brutal enough for breakdowns and light enough for accents. I believe that the sound of this cymbal is diverse enough to be applied to most genres of music. Unfortunately, after a year, my 12" has developed a crack in the bend of the cymbal. I was smart enough to buy the Pro Coverage, so it's all good. I wouldn't even consider buying this cymbal without the Pro Coverage. IT WILL BREAK EVENTUALLY! So make sure you're taking care of your investment buy getting that Pro Coverage.

Great China Cymbal

By TimmyR41

from Mifflinburg, PA

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

I play a 16" oriental china trash and I love it. It sounds great and really cuts. The only thing I would have done differently if I had to do over would be to purchase an 18" instead of a 16". The 16" just has a slightly higher pitch than I would like. Other than that it is an amazing product. Very durable.

Couldn't be happier

By t4ma7495

from Mennor, OK

Comments about Zildjian Oriental China 'Trash' Cymbal:

I have owned the 18" oriental china trash for a little over a year and still no cracks or serious signs of wear. Thhis is the perfect china if your looking for a china with a quick sharp attack and quick decay. And of course like its name suggests it is very trashy sounding. 5's all around from me.

Lives up to the hype. Very musical trash. I have a 16" which for me gives me what I was looking for regarding quick decay and sound that cuts through. I highly recommend this cymbal.
