Comments about Zildjian Kerope Crash Cymbal:

I am a professional drummer and drum set instructor based out of the booming musical metropolis of Nora Springs, IA, where I also direct middle school and high school band. I have owned a 19" Kerope cymbal for a little over a year and have been thoroughly impressed! I would hesitate to designate it as a crash or a ride, as it does both equally well. Seriously.

In my private drum studio lessons, it's not uncommon for me to go from teaching a lesson on rock drumming directly into teaching a lesson on jazz drumming -- two very different concepts that would often require a switch in my cymbal set-up, but not so with the 19" Kerope. Similarly, I've played gigs where the setlist jumps from a driving swing chart to a light Brazilian chart and then into a full-out rock chart. Not every cymbal could handle each of those genres tastefully. The 19" Kerope can.

This cymbal is medium-thin in weight, hand-hammered, and has a relatively flat profile. These attributes make for an instrument that can serve as a full-bodied dark crash, a washy crash ride, and a dark, secondary ride with buttery crash qualities. Much like the other K crashes, the 19" Kerope crash sound has a bright initial transient that quickly settles into that dark wash that drummers know and love. The wash is medium to low pitched, so it blends with the music as opposed to dominating it (even when crash riding). The ride sound is very articulate with a smoky "tah" cushioning each stick beat, much like you'd expect from an old-style K.

Bottom line, folks, is that not all cymbals are created equal. The 19" Kerope is one of those rare gems that can legitimately enhance just about any drummer's set-up outside of the Metal genre. If you're looking for a true chameleon of a cymbal, look no further!

Comments about Zildjian Kerope Crash Cymbal:

I bought this cymbal a little over a year ago and have loved every minute of it. The sounds that this cymbal makes never cease to inspire. I have the 19" model as my left side crash and it can serve as an alternative ride that adds a great atmosphere, yet, it can really open up and cut through when you want it to. This instrument will amaze you. If you're stuck between this and a few others, choose this one!

Comments about Zildjian Kerope Crash Cymbal:

The Zildjian Kerope Cymbal's sound like a really good vintage K complete with a nice patina etc. Both the 18" & 19" Crash & Ride great! They Ride with a nice woody stick and beautiful wash that is dark and complex and Crash warm and fast! The Kerope series sound like the best Vintage K's from the 40's & 50's they aren't as loud or glassy as the K Con's but they sound AMAZING!..and mic up really well both Live & in the Studio
