If you are seriously looking for a ride/main riding crash cymbal, this is definetly for you. I stand by all zildjian k cymbals and this one has given me what i need out of it. I play mostly bar gigs and alot of our music is classic rock. At home i play more metal styled music and this cymbal still surprises me! The bell is pretty good for this being a crash/ride. The crash is very responsive and very loud. You will be heard by all guitar players as i can easily drown everyone out with a crack of this cymbal. The ride is probly the weakest feature in this cymbal but eh its what i payed for. Ive beat this thing to death for about 2 years now and i think it sounds better every day. Super tough and reliable

I was slightly dissapointed in this cymbal. As a crash however, I really liked it! It has a nice dark shimmer with a fairly quick decay. Pairs well with my 17" K dark thin crash. I think it's lacking a little as a primary ride for rock or louder music. It doesn't have the volume or the projection as a ride that I would have liked however it does crash ride decently. I have a feeling it would fit in perfectly in a quieter setting, maybe jazz or chamber music type stuff.

18" k crash/ride--very versatile

By nate merrill

from Catonsville MD

Comments about Zildjian K Crash Ride:

this cymbal goes very well with my vintage 20" k ride; however, i could omit all other cymbals completely because of the versatility of this cymbal! the ride qualities of it are great, but start to hum a little too much when hit hard, but the bell sounds good. the crash sounds great for a really long john bonham or ringo type crash sound. the decay is slow, but that is exactly what i was looking for and should be what someone who wants a crash ride should be looking for. overall one of the most versatile cymbals I've ever played on.

Outstanding Cymbal

By steverok67

Comments about Zildjian K Crash Ride:

I recently traded in a Zildjian A Medium-Thin 18" crash to get the 18" version of this K Crash-Ride. I had never previously traded or really sold a piece of drum equipment in my life. It's just that, when I heard this one, I knew I had to have it. I never was too hip on the idea of a "crash-ride", I mean, what is it, a crash or a ride ? Well, I'd say this is a crash, which is excellent for "crash-riding". It has a complex sound that is, by no means, dark, in fact, I would say it's got a nice bite to it, and it has its share of brightness, with a very smooth wash and decay. It's not the kind of cymbal that you crash hard on. In fact, I think bigger crashes like this sound best when struck not too hard. I'm not that great at describing cymbals, all I do know is I have some great cymbals, and this one easily stands among the very best I own. Definitely a top-of-the-line pie ... highly recommended.

Dark Crash qualites With Powerful Projection

By Keegan

from Michigan

Comments about Zildjian K Crash Ride:

Plain and simple. This cymbal needs no help to cut through any other instrument on stage. Its Dark crash quality with a somewhat shimmering ride definition works great for Louder musical application. Its Lightweight, its durable but those stickmarks will mess up its appearance so make sure to have that trusty Zildjian cymbal polish on hand if you want it to look nice! Its expensive but Its worth every cent! Outstanding Job once again Zildjian!

lovely

Comments about Zildjian K Crash Ride:

I recently traded in a 2 year old 20" Armand ride for the 18" K crash ride. The Armand is a wonderful, classic sounding cymbal. However, in my current playing situation (small, Contemporary Christian group) the wash of the Armand was too... well, "clangy," for lack of a better word. Too much overtone, too flat and harsh. The smaller size K crash ride allows for a still classic yet slightly brighter sound with some tightening of stick definition (not quite as much as a ping or flat ride). This cymbal has a nice crash quality as well ... a definite plus in in a small set up like mine. As other reviews here have noted, the K crash ride can certainly project when you lean into it, but it also speaks softly when approached gently without sacrificing musicality. I've been playing for (drum roll, please) 45 years and have had 4 ride cymbals in that time - a '60s 22" K (made in Istanbul - a monster rock cymbal), a 20" Sabian flat ride, the 20" Armand and now the 18" K crash ride. Today, my money is on the K crash ride.

Bright, Loud, and Cutting - need I say more?

By ZILDJIANS-rule-21

Comments about Zildjian K Crash Ride:

Awesome cymbal, I might have to buy the whole set ... 18,21, and 22 the 20 is nothing short of spectacular and is really projective ... It's bright and it's just plain awesome! Ride qualities are meh, good for jazz but I wouldn't use it as a main crash, but a secondary one. Other then that awesome Crash! I'm no doubt saving money to buy the 21 inch soon! Thanks ZildjianJust a side note though, I have a Projection Crash 17 inch that doesn't really blend well with it, I think this cymbal would fit well with other K's, A Customs (thins), and probably the Medium Thin Crashes just my opinion...

Best Crash Ever!

By Brown Cloud Van Dam

from TX

Comments about Zildjian K Crash Ride:

I was looking for an explosive crash. I went to the Zildjian website to preview the sounds of the different crashes. This is the best one hands down. I was not disappointed one bit when I got it. The ride qualities aren't quite what I would expect for the amount it cost but I wasn't looking for a ride. This thing cuts through any live situation and also has excellent recording qualities. If you?re looking for the best crash ever, look no further.
