This ride is it. The only crash/ride that actually works as a crash and a ride in higher volume music! If you are playing quieter stuff I would recommend Sabian's Omni ride, but just like Zak Starkey intended this ride is where it's at for country, rock, pop, metal... basically any style where you need a powerful bell, decent stick definition, and a smooth, cutting crash. Guitar Center tends to have at least one laying around their stores so if you are currently on the crash/ride quest like I was I would definitely recommend trying one of these out for yourself. You will be blown away at the combination of bell definition and crashability, and if 21" sounds like its too small for me you can still find a few 22" versions floating around here and there.
I went in to Guitar Center looking for a crash to accompany my Zildjian 18" A Custom Projection Crash, and guess what i came out with? THIS K Crash/Ride in 21"! This thing is a monster with dynamics that make me cream my pants! It's worth every penny. It's loud when it needs to be, with enough wash to make you dig the groove, and a dark clarity and ping that you'll love more than anything. The bell is a clear BING! with a slight wash, but not too much (you know what i mean). Overall, this K has got it all! Meaning the raunchy crash that projects but with just enough spread for riding. I now have 2 rides! a K Custom 22" Ride, and a K 21" Crash/Ride. It's like i got two cymbals in one... really i mean it. Look into this cymbal, this Crash/Ride is the best Zildjian makes. Its better than the A Crash/Ride FOR SURE!!
I was looking for a cymbal that could get a good washy ride, a good swell, and still be able to have a crash that cuts through while I was already in the process of riding/washing it out. I didn't think all of that was really possible, I thought I might have to settle in some area, but I was wrong. This is such a great cymbal that does all of those things. It can be used in many different kinds of music, and just has a beautiful sound. I highly recommend it. I have the 21"
This is the best ride cymbal i have ever heard. I just purchased the 21" and i love it. it works great for all types of music. I use it for playing in this group that's doing a broadway performance and also for my own rock/pop group. Definitely worth the dough
