I play rock and heavier music. these sticks aren't made for that. I have the nylon in 5A and the first day i used them one broke, i opened up my other pack and both are ready to be shattered. They're extremely comfortable, but really, they break instantly. If i played jazz and didnt hit so hard i bet they would last longer. but if you play rock music or heavy metal i wouldnt go with these. also they leave black marks on everything you hit, but that's just because of the paint.

Pros

  • Finish is good
  • Good Quality

Cons

  • MF doesnt have blue

Best Uses

  • Concerts

Comments about Zildjian Hickory Series Black Drumsticks:

sticks take an extreme beating as I am a very hard hitter, they last long. I usually use the blue as I like the finish on them better than the black, but MF does not carry the blue nylon tip, which I just don't get...they have the wood and nylon 5a in blue and the wood tip 5b blue but not the nylon so I had to go with black.

I use the 5a sticks with my electronic kits and get the red.again great durability and long lasting.

Comments about Zildjian Hickory Series Black Drumsticks:

I got these drumsticks for christmas. I play all metal and heavy stuff, it may just be because i am a heavy hitter but i mean these sticks lasted for maybe a week. The paint also marked up my good a series cymbals, left black marks. Overall terrible DO NOT BUY!

Careful of colored drum sticks

By my3sons

from Undisclosed

Comments about Zildjian Hickory Series Black Drumsticks:

Two of my sons play grade school drums. They wanted something different, so I ordered colored drum sticks. The black and blue sticks leave marks on the drums. Now I have to buy them another pair. I am sticking to the "natural" wood from now on.

They're ok

By Ryan MIchener

from Undisclosed

Comments about Zildjian Hickory Series Black Drumsticks:

If you're a heavy hitter these are not the sticks for you. I tend to be one and these sticks broke within 3 days. Otherwise they have a great well balanced feel. If they weren't so delicate these would probably be my favorite sticks.

Jazz

By Lock

from Honolulu

Comments about Zildjian Hickory Series Black Drumsticks:

So I'm a rock/funk/jazz drummer, and i've been using the same set of the wooden tip zildjian jazz sticks for years now and have to say that i absolutely love them, grant it my style of playing is not that heavy, and i like to tape the top half of my sticks for more weight and a slightly more forward center of gravity, which may or may not have helped keep them from chipping off too much. After a few years i have noticed the head degrading from use but hey, all in all they've a nice feel, good weight, and a solid build.Plus their black and that's awesome, and mine are still black after years of use.

Zildjian 7A Drumsticks

By DustyC5394

from Wisconsin

Comments about Zildjian Hickory Series Black Drumsticks:

I bought the 7A sticks were great althought I don't like how the black scrapes off of the stick on to the cymbal, other wise mine lasted for a month, the people that say they suck and don't last that long, its just how you use them.Otherwise pretty good sticks.
