Constructed from U.S. laminated birch, this is a heavier than normal weight version of our popular Jazz Wood Tip drumstick. Aside from providing a very solid feel and additional durability out of the compact size stick, the material produces high-pitched tones on instruments and a super solid cross-stick sound. The stick is ideal for drummers who want a normal sized stick with additional weight and heft. The oval bead produces warm tones with a moderate amount of overtone. Great for jazz, rock and concert snare drum applications.

Constructed from phenolically-impregnated and laminated US birch.

Not just for heavy hitters

Comments about Zildjian Heavy Jazz Drumsticks:

The Zildjian Heavy Jazz Drumsticks are well balanced and solid. Whether I'm driving a full band or backing up a sultry torch singer, I can easily get the right sound and projection on my cymmbals and skins. I have a few pairs of laminated Grover/E sticks that I've been preserving for years. I must say that these Zildjians provide a fuller sound on my drums. I plan to stock up on them. Nice Job Zildjian!

Comments about Zildjian Heavy Jazz Drumsticks:

I saw these sticks and loved the design. I always liked the Mangini sticks, but they were just too heavy, and the acorn tip ate my tom heads for lunch. I saw these and they felt great and sounded AMAZING on my ride cymbal, so much ping. The real test was durability. I can go through vic firth 5A's in a matter of hours, so I was skeptical about about getting such a small stick. These were just great. I've been using these sticks for 2-3 hours a day for over a month and they look brand new. Usually after I have a stick for over a week it's a whole bunch thinner in the middle than on the ends - not these. LOVE LOVE LOVE these sticks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely not just for Jazz musicians.

Comments about Zildjian Heavy Jazz Drumsticks:

I was looking through the sticks and I asked for something to help out with my blastbeats, since I'm a metal drummer. Either the guy at the counter suggested Zildjian Heavy Jazz or I just picked up a pair from the stick rack, but either way, I ended up trying them out on a practice pad. Something about them fit. I've heard over and over that when a drummer finds the right equipment, it just clicks. It may not be perfect right away. I definitely couldn't do crazy blastbeats right away. However, something just felt right about these sticks. I've really only felt that way about one percussion item so far, and that was my old ride cymbal when I had an acoustic set. Anyway, these sticks have an amazing balance. They are definitely heavy sticks, but they don't feel like marching sticks. When I pick up the Zildjian Heavy Jazz sticks, they still feel small. Before I tried these out, I was playing on either Vic Firth 7A sticks or those Ahead 7A sticks (which I would never suggest buying). When I started getting into higher speed music, those light sticks just didn't seem to hold up. They felt too flimsy. They broke too often. The Ahead sticks were just a pain to hold. When I got those Zildjian sticks, everything changed. They are heavy enough to give good power. They are light enough to still offer great speed. They are big enough to not feel really flimsy. They are small enough to still offer great manuverability. I love the way they look, too. The laminated finish is gorgeous. They also sound incredible on cymbals. To be honest, I probably play the drums way too hard. When I play at my church, I tear my sticks apart. These sticks last longer than regular wood ones and they sound better longer. I'm sure you know how a drumstick sounds when it hits a cymbal after the stick's head has been torn apart a bit, right? It sounds muffled. It doesn't sound as powerful. When the stick's head is torn into a bit, it just doesn't have the same attack. These Zildjian sticks are a completely different story. It's like they've got nylon tips. They don't sound the same as nylon-tipped drumsticks, but I stand by these every day. Don't just take my word for it, though. Go pick up a pair. If they feel right, then they are right. These are the best sticks I've ever used by far and I will most likely continue using them long into the future. Heck, I just picked up three pairs! As a metal drummer at home and a worship drummer at my church (and modern worship music is based heavily on dynamic changes, which really tears into my sticks), I definitely suggest using these sticks for a strong balance of power and speed, weight and size, and durability. You can use them for just about anything besides really soft jazz.

I bought them cuz they felt good in my hand and balanced n sturdy! once i began to play they just give off a solid hit that doesnt eat into your tom heads and gives the ride and crash a solid hit and sound. i used them through rehersals and performances playing ina a melodic thrash band. these sticks give a bang for your buck!

Don't let the name fool you!

from Torrance, Ca.

Comments about Zildjian Heavy Jazz Drumsticks:

Even though these sticks are called "Heavy Jazz", they are not just for "Jazz" drummers. I have played drums for several decades and hit very hard. I used to use sticks made of Kevlar, because they were heavier and very durable. Unfortunately the company went out of business and I was out of luck. I checked out many different sizes and brands. Fortunately I had a friend suggest these birch sticks and I was stoked! They are heavier for their size than the average hickory or oak stick and feel great. These sticks are also very durable! I am sold!

Oh yeah!
