The Zildjian Armand Ride Cymbal is a classic A Zildjian ride that offers a sweet shimmering quality of overtones without loss of control or ride articulation. The Armand Ride cymbal features a larger sized cup for excellent bell access.
Based on the popular 19" Armand Ride and the inimitable sound of the '60s, Zildjian proudly introduces the Armand series into the A Zildjian Cymbal range. During the explosion of rock and pop music of the '60s, the great drummers of groundbreaking bands used A Zildjian cymbals to make their mark. You can hear Zildjian's distinctive sound in the great recordings of that era, from The Beatles to The Beach Boys, from Cream to The Jimi Hendrix Experience, from The Rolling Stones to The Spencer Davis Group. Zildjian has now resurrected that nostalgic cymbal sound with these exciting new models.
New shaping techniques create a slightly lower profile than tht found on A Zildjian cymbals and help to offer a special warm and smooth blend of overtones. Lighter weight specifications promote a fast cymbal response with special lower-pitched overtones without the loss of projection potential.
Zildjian left these babies without any protective coating to help promote the aged look and patina that cymbals from the '60s would have today. A tighter lathe on top combined with the current A Zildjian lathing on the bottom results in a unique feel for each new Armand Cymbal model.

I buyed this cymbal 1 year ago,i wanted an K Custom Ride but the ride was out of stock so i bought the Zildjian Armand Ride 21" .First when i orderd it i was a litte afraid that the Ride wasn't going to fit my music that well(At that time i played Heavy metal)But when i got the ride i was so happy! it comes in an Traditional Finish. Now when i play more gospel,Funk stuff i really Enjoy playing this ride. i highly recomend it to anyone who want an really good alrond ride!Just Don't let the price tag scare you. BUY IT! 5/5
I bought this ride because I wanted a middle-of-the-road sound with moderate wash or crash, but definitely enough to express itself when really pounded. I'd say this has a teensy-bit more wash than I care for, and not as much ping as I had wished...but otherwise, this cymbal really lives up to the "classic sound" hype. Also, I've realized that this is NOT a ride you want to clean (unless it is stained with some foreign object) and that its traditional lathe will age with character; in fact, I make sure to touch this ride as much as possible. As much as I enjoy this ride, I know that I will eventually stray from this series for a more dry and defined sound. My biggest disappointment with this ride is its bell. It strikes very inconsistently and does not project well in louder situations.
I've been looking for a ride cymbal that has subtlety, but could also be played hard and not become a mess of wash. I also wanted a ride that didn't have a glossy lacquer finish. I bought the 21" ride at the local GC after reading a product release promo. It has a classic "A" sound that is more like what I remember them sounding like in the 60's-70's. The "K" thing has gone too far, IMO, and this new Armand series takes a step back to something that is attainable and usable by most drummers/musicians. Clean stick sound, and you can find different tambres across the surface of the cymbal. Nice wash, but not trashy. Edge crash is very good. bell sound is great, too. I would say it is a medium-thin ride.
