Great sticks!

By Badnewsbobby

Comments about Zildjian Absolute Rock Hickory Drumsticks:

I got given a pair of these sticks and they are (or rather were, the original pair is now a foursome!) the best sticks I've ever used. I hit very hard and catch the rim of the snare a lot and I found that these sticks took a lot of punishment before giving up. I break sticks at the tips usually so these sticks eliminate this problem for me. I found that these were better (more evenly, slightly lighter which allowed for faster playing) weighted than the Vater Alien Freak sticks and are also completely rounded off at the end which makes sense to me in terms of skin preservation. I thought I may have issues with how fast I could play with these sticks as most of the stuff I play is very fast indeed but I actually found them to be very bouncy and responsive and they are the ideal stick for no nonsense, hard hitting muscle drummers. Highly recommended. :)

Great Straight Forward Stick

Comments about Zildjian Absolute Rock Hickory Drumsticks:

I have used these sticks for years now. I am used to big 5Os (Ralph Hardimons) from snare line so these have that weight without the size. Very good if you do stick tricks cuz they always play find. However, hi-hats eat away at the sides and if you don't want splinters, the natural thing to do is to hold the stick the same way over and over, which eventually makes them feel much lighter. Great stuff though. Great on domes, and for one handed rolls.

OK sticks

Comments about Zildjian Absolute Rock Hickory Drumsticks:

I bought two pairs of these stick about 2 months ago. They are pretty good sticks but when I started playing with one of the pair after I hit my hi-hat once it split starting from the bottom. It was small and on the side so it didn't break. But other than that, I like them you get more fullness than you would with tip sticks. So if you want a little extra kick get these, but don't get the black because it leaves a lot of black marks and residue on your cymbals and is a pain to clean. With that said I prefer Vater XD 5B's those are sweet sticks.

I bought a pair of these sticks, I loved playing with them. It was easier for me to do drum rolls and fillings, but they don't last very long - they lasted me like 3 days.

Sweet Sticks

Comments about Zildjian Absolute Rock Hickory Drumsticks:

I've had these sticks for a while. They're really nice on the dome of cymbals, no need to contort your body to get that rich sound of a ping ride. Also, if you flip your sticks a lot while you play, these are perfect because it doesn't matter which way you catch 'em, they'll play the same. However, if you try to play only with one side, they eventually become lop-sided as the hi-hats eat away at the body. At that point you need to buy new sticks, and the new ones won't feel the same.
